Powergesic 100mg Transdermal Patch (Diclofenac 100mg)

INTRODUCTION

POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG contains Diclofenac which belongs to a group of medicines known as non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs). It is indicated to treat for the local symptomatic and short term treatment of pain associated with acute strains, sprains or bruises on the arms and legs as a result of injuries for example like sports injuries. It works by stopping the body’s production of a substance which causes pain. Diclofenac sodium is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory with analgesic properties. It has to be applied to intact skin which provides local analgesia by releasing diclofenac from the patch into the skin. It has ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis, involved in its anti-inflammatory activity, as well as contribute to its efficacy in relieving pain associated with inflammation.

Always use POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG as prescribed by your doctor. Before using, tell your doctor if you have kidney, liver, heart diseases, are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for use in children and adolescents below 16 years of age. The common side effects are application site reactions such as burning, irritation, itching and redness of skin. Avoid exposure of direct sunlight or solarium radiation in order to reduce the risk of sensitivity to light.

POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG works by blocking the release of substances that cause pain and inflammation. It inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, however also involved in its anti-inflammatory activity and efficacy in relieving pain associated with inflammation.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Apply one patch for one day or as directed by the physician. It should be applied on non-hairy area, clean the application area with water and dry it before applying the medicine. Check the label for directions before use.

Wash and completely dry the skin area before applying the patch
Tear open the envelope containing the patches, cut on the dotted line and not to cut the zipper seal just below it.
Pull the zipper seal on the envelope and remove one patch
Apply to the area to be treated and remove the protective film
Firmly press the patch into place on the skin area and press down around all four edges to secure the medicine.
To remove moisten the patch with water and peel away an edge and pull smoothly away from the skin
Wash your hands when you are finished applying the patch

SERIOUS
Sudden itchy rash (hives)
Swelling of the hands, feet, ankles, face, lips, mouth or throat
Breathing difficult
Decrease in blood pressure
Weakness

Local skin reactions such as skin redness, burning sensation, itching, inflamed skin, redness, skin rash sometimes with pustules or wheals
RARE
Hypersensitivity reactions or local allergic reactions (contact dermatitis)
WARNING & PRECAUTIONS
PREGNANCY
POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG is not recommended for use in last three months of pregnancy unless necessary. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

BREASTFEEDING
POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG should be used with caution during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before using.

KIDNEY
POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Tell your doctor if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Diclofenac.

HEART DISEASE
POWERGESIC TRANSDERMAL 100MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active heart diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor if you have or had,

Stomach or duodenal ulcer
Injured skin (skin abrasions, cuts, burns)
Infection
Dermatitis or eczema
Asthma or allergies

INTERACTIONS

Inform your doctor if you are using or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following,

Acetylsalicylic acid and ibuprofen (used to treat pain and inflammation)
