Powergesic MR Tablet

Powergesic MR Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of Diclofenac, Paracetamol and Chlorzoxazone. It is used for the treatment of pain, swelling, and tenderness associated with muscle injury and muscle spasms.

Powergesic MR Tablet is also used to treat pain and swelling in post-surgical patients. This medicine blocks the release of certain chemicals that cause pain and swelling and blocks the pain impulse from the affected site to the brain, thus relieving pain and swelling effectively.

Powergesic MR Tablet shows common side effects like nausea, vomiting, stomach pain and diarrhoea. If any of these side effects persist or worsen, consult your doctor at the earliest.

Powergesic MR Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness in some people. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy after taking this medicine. Avoid consuming alcohol with this medicine.

Powergesic MR Tablet should be taken with food to avoid stomach irritation. You must follow the dosage instructed by your doctor. Appropriate physical therapy and rest are necessary along with this medicine to get better results.

What is it prescribed for?
Swelling and pain associated with muscle spasm
Muscle spasm is sudden involuntary movements in one or more muscles, that cannot relax. It causes pain and swelling of the muscles. It can occur due to stress, tension, vigorous physical activity, or some medical conditions. Spasms can be extremely painful. Powergesic MR Tablet is used to relieve mild to moderate pain and swelling in the muscles associated with spasms.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Powergesic MR Tablet if you are allergic to it or any other NSAIDs (pain killers). Seek medical attention if you come across any allergic reactions such as skin rashes, hives (painful eruptions that itch and sting), swelling (face, lips, tongue, etc.), breathing difficulty, etc.
Peptic Ulcer
Peptic ulcer(s) are the sores in the lining of the stomach and intestine. Avoid using Powergesic MR Tablet if you have stomach ulcers, as it may cause stomach bleeding and worsen the ulcers.
Coronary Artery Bypass Surgery (CABG)
Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is a surgical procedure that restores normal blood flow to the heart muscle. Avoid using Powergesic MR Tablet for relieving pain after heart surgery.
Chronic Kidney disease
Powergesic MR Tablet is excreted through the kidneys. A damaged kidney cannot filter out this medicine effectively and it will get accumulated leading to worsening of your condition and other undesirable effects. Avoid taking Powergesic  Tablet if you have any medical condition of your kidneys.
Severe liver disease
Powergesic MR Tablet is broken down and absorbed in the liver. A damaged liver cannot absorb this medicine effectively, leading to its accumulation. This will further damage your liver and worsen your condition. Avoid taking Powergesic MR Tablet if you have pre-existing liver problems
Gastrointestinal bleeding
Powergesic MR Tablet may cause stomach and intestinal bleeding and ulcers. Therefore, it is not recommended for use if you have ulcers or any other gastrointestinal conditions as it may worsen your condition.

Pregnancy
Powergesic MR Tablet is not recommended for use in pregnancy as it may cause miscarriage or may affect foetal heart growth.
Breast-feeding

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you forget to take a Powergesic  Tablet dose, make sure that you remember to take your next dose when it is due. Do not take two doses together to make up for the missed dose.
