Muvera 15mg Tablet (Meloxicam 15mg)

INTRODUCTION

MUVERA 15MG contains Meloxicam which belongs to a group of medicines called non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) which are used to reduce inflammation and pain in the joints and muscles. It is indicated for the short-term (acute) treatment of flare-ups of osteoarthritis, long-term treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis (Bechterew’s- disease). Meloxicam reversibly inhibits cyclooxygenase-1 and 2 (COX-1 and 2) enzymes, which results in decreased formation of prostaglandin precursors and has antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory properties.

Always take this MUVERA 15MG exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers. It is not recommended for children and adolescents below 16 years of age. The common side effects are vomiting, stomach pain, nausea, indigestion and diarrhea.

USES OF MUVERA 15MG

HOW MUVERA 15MG WORKS

MUVERA 15MG works by blocking the effect of chemicals known as cyclo-oxygenase (COX) enzymes, which helps to make other chemicals in the body known as prostaglandins.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take MUVERA 15MG exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow the medicine as a whole, with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew. It can be taken with or without food.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness.

Nausea:

Stick to regular meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

Indigestion:

Try not to chew with your mouth open, drink beverages after rather than during meals. Avoid late-night eating and try to relax after meals.

Diarrhoea:

Drink plenty of fluids to avoid dehydration. ORS should be used to prevent dehydration

Constipation:

Take fruits, vegetables whole grains and fiber foods.

Vomiting:

Drink clear or ice-cold drinks and take light, bland foods and avoid fried and sweet foods.

Stomach pain:

Place a warm water bottle on abdomen or soak in a warm bath. Drink plenty of clear fluids and water.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

PREGNANCY
MUVERA 15MG is not recommended during the last three months of pregnancy. Consult your doctor before taking.

BREASTFEEDING
MUVERA 15MG is not recommended during breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you have blurred vision, dizziness, drowsiness, vertigo or other central nervous system disturbances while taking this medicine.

KIDNEY
MUVERA 15MG is not recommended in patients with severe kidney failure. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
MUVERA 15MG is not recommended in patients with severely impaired liver function. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Meloxicam.

HEART DISEASE
MUVERA 15MG is not recommended in patients with severe heart failure. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor if you have or had,

Wheezing, chest tightness, breathlessness (asthma)
Nasal blockage
Skin rashes, nettle rash (urticaria)
Angioneurotic oedema
Bleeding and holes in stomach
Ulcers or a bleeding
Bleeding in the brain
Intolerance to some sugars
High blood pressure
Diabetes mellitus
High levels of cholesterol in the blood
Reduced blood volume
High potassium levels

INTERACTIONS

Medicines which break down blood clots (thrombolytics)
Corticosteroids (used against inflammation or allergic reactions)

Beta-blockers (treat high blood pressure)
Lithium (used to treat mood disorders)
Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (treats depression)
Methotrexate
Cholestyramine (used to lower cholesterol levels)
