Description

Cintapro 1 mg Tablet is a gastroprokinetic medicine that enhances the motility of the stomach and intestine and anti-ulcer medicine. This medicine is used to treat Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), a condition in which stomach acid flows back into the food pipe, causing heartburn and discomfort It is also used to treat non-ulcer dyspepsia (indigestion), and gastroparesis (delayed gastric emptying). Cintapro 1 mg Tablet works by increasing the production of a chemical messenger that improves the movement of food from the mouth through the oesophagus, stomach, intestines and out of the body.

Cintapro 1 mg Tablet shows common side effects like headache, dizziness, nausea, and vomiting. This medicine can also cause diarrhoea; hence, drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration. These side effects are temporary and resolve with time, however, it is advised to consult your doctor if the side effects persist or do not go away.

Cintapro 1 mg Tablet is usually taken 15 minutes before each meal. It is suggested to take this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. He/she will suggest the dose and duration of Cintapro 1 mg Tablet depending on your condition and symptoms. Do not self-medicate as this can lead to certain complications. If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you notice it. If your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and continue to your regular dosing plan. Do not take an extra dose to make up for a missed dose.

Cintapro 1 mg Tablet is not recommended if you have gastrointestinal bleeding (a condition in which bleeding occurs in your oesophagus, stomach, or intestine), intestinal obstruction (blockage in your intestine), and perforation (hole in the wall of stomach or intestine). Inform your doctor if you have any kidney, liver, heart problems, or any other medical conditions as this will help your doctor to plan the treatment accordingly. Also, inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding as this medicine may not be safe during pregnancy and for the infant.

Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a condition in which your stomach acid rises up into the oesophagus (the tube that connects your mouth and stomach). The condition is characterized by symptoms such as heartburn, bad breath, the taste of acid, etc. Cintapro 1 mg Tablet is an effective medicine used in the treatment of GERD. It works by increasing the chemicals (acetylcholine) in your body which improves Gastrointestinal (GI) motility (movement of food from the mouth through oesophagus, stomach, intestines and out of the body) and prevents your stomach contents to come back up into your oesophagus and mouth.
Non-ulcer dyspepsia
Non-ulcer dyspepsia is a condition in which the food is not able to pass through your intestines properly. This leads to indigestion and causes symptoms like stomach pain, bloating, fullness, nausea, etc. Cintapro 1 mg Tablet improves your stomach muscle movement thus helps in proper digestion of food.
Gastroparesis
Gastroparesis is a condition where the movement of food from your stomach is very slow, resulting in delayed emptying. Cintapro 1 mg Tablet improves your stomach muscle motility thereby helping in the movement of food from your stomach to the intestine.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid using Cintapro 1 mg Tablet if you have a known allergy to cinitapride or any other ingredients present in this medicine. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice symptoms of serious allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.
Stomach Ulcers
Stomach ulcers are ulcers or sores present in the wall or lining of your stomach. Abdominal pain is the most common symptom of a stomach ulcer. You may also experience nausea, vomiting or bloating. Do not take Cintapro 1 mg Tablet if you are having stomach ulcers, this medicine may worsen your condition.
Tardive dyskinesia
Tardive dyskinesia is a neurological condition that involves abnormal movements of the jaw, lips and tongue. The condition is caused by prolonged use of some psychiatric medicines. Cintapro 1 mg Tablet is not recommended for people having Tardive dyskinesia, as it can worsen their condition.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you forgot to take the dose of Cintapro 1 mg Tablet at a given time, then take it as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose of Cintapro 1 mg Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, go to the emergency department of your local hospital.

General Instructions

Take Cintapro 1 mg Tablet as instructed by your doctor. You should take this medicine at least 15 minutes before your meals. Do not take in larger or lower dosages than advised. Consult your doctor if you experience any side effects.

This medication may cause diarrhoea; if you have watery stools, consult your doctor.
