Zerodol Spas Tablet (Drotaverine 80mg / Aceclofenac 100mg)

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of Aceclofenac and Drotaverine. It is mainly used in the treatment of muscular pain associated with spasms in adults. It can also be used to treat dysmenorrhoea (pain associated with period cramps). Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet can provide relief from pain and swelling that occurs due to muscle cramps and spasms.

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet works by blocking certain enzyme receptors that cause muscle spasms and preventing the release of substances called prostaglandins in the brain that cause pain and fever. It can provide relief from pain and swelling due to arthritic conditions but does not cure it.

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet may cause some side effects like dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite, and diarrhoea. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine as it may cause dizziness. Do not consume alcohol while using this medicine as it may worsen drowsiness.

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet should be taken with food, milk, or an antacid to avoid stomach irritation. For the ease of remembering, take it at the same time every day. Do not stop using this medicine even if you feel better after taking a few doses as abrupt stopping may worsen your condition and lead to more severe symptoms.

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet may not be suitable for all people. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems before taking this medicine. This medicine is not recommended to be used if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.

Dysmenorrhea is the cramping pain caused during periods in women caused by contractions of the uterus. Secondary dysmenorrhoea is pain that occurs due to reproductive system disorders. Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet is used to relieve mild to moderate pain associated with dysmenorrhoea.

Allergy

Avoid taking Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet if you are allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions to this medicine are rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Severe liver/kidney diseases

Use of Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet should be avoided if you have any kidney or liver problems as it may increase the risk of worsening your condition.

Heart diseases

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have heart problems like congestive heart failure due to the risk of complications and worsening your condition.

Asthma

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have Asthma especially if you experience allergic reactions with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (medicines used in the treatment of pain and fever) like aspirin.

Blood clotting disorder

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet may prolong the blood clotting time and therefore increase the risk of bleeding. Hence, it is not recommended for use if you have blood clotting disorders as it may worsen your condition.

Warnings for special population

Pregnancy

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use during pregnancy due to the risk of harmful effects on your foetus. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

Breast-feeding

It is not known whether Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet passes into breast milk or not. However, consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

General warnings

Liver/kidney diseases

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have liver or kidney problems as it may cause serious side effects and lead to kidney/liver damage.

Hypotension

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet may cause hypotension (low blood pressure) if you have pre-existing heart conditions like stroke, myocardial infarction etc. Your doctor may suggest tests for monitoring your heart function while on treatment with this medicine.

CABG

Do not use Zerodol (100/80 mg) Tablet for relieving pain after a CABG (coronary artery bypass graft) procedure as it may affect the clotting factors and may worsen your condition and impact the surgical outcome.

Use in children

Zerodol  (100/80 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 18 years of age.

Driving or operating machiners

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet may cause drowsiness or dizziness in some people. It is advised that you do not perform activities such as driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Use in Elderly

Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet should be used with caution in elderly people due to the increased risk of kidney and liver damage. Your doctor will generally start treatment with lower doses to check for your tolerance to this medicine.

Water retention

Zerodol (100/80 mg) Tablet may cause oedema (water retention in your body’s tissues majorly in lower limbs). Your doctor may suggest tests to monitor your blood pressure, electrolyte levels, and heart function while you are on treatment with this medicine based on your clinical condition.

If you forget to take a dose of Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet, make sure that you remember to take your next dose when it is due. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one.

Never take more than the prescribed dose of Zerodol Spas (100/80 mg) Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, seek emergency medical help.

General Instructions

Your doctor may regularly monitor your kidney, liver, heart function and levels of blood components if you are taking this medicine for a longer duration.

Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the date of expiry.
