Macpred 4 MG Tablet is a corticosteroid medicine. It is used to treat various conditions such as arthritis, asthma, allergic conditions, certain types of cancer, skin, eye, thyroid, or intestinal problems, etc. Macpred 4 MG Tablet works by blocking the action of chemical substances that are responsible for pain and swelling and altering your body’s immune response.

Macpred 4 MG Tablet may cause some side effects like headache, vomiting, upset stomach, anxiety, sleeplessness, etc. Consult your doctor if they persist or become severe. Avoid activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles and operating machines as it may cause dizziness. This medicine can reduce your immune response and increase the risk of infection.

Macpred 4 MG Tablet should be taken with food to avoid stomach irritation. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of the treatment depending on your condition. Avoid taking more or less than the prescribed dose. Take it regularly for the recommended duration for best results. 1. Pemphigus Vulgaris is a rare skin condition that causes blistering, sores, and erosion of your skin and mucous membrane. It can affect the mouth, nose, throat, eyes, and genitals.
2. Severe Psoriasis is a skin condition that causes red, itchy scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk, and scalp.
3. Exfoliative dermatitis is redness and peeling of the skin over large areas of the body.
4. Bullous dermatitis herpetiformis is a chronic blistering skin condition characterised by intensely itchy blisters filled with a watery fluid.
5. Stevens-Johnson syndrome is a serious skin condition that causes the development of rashes or blisters on the skin, which then peels off. It may also affect the mucous membranes, including the eyes, genitals, and mouth.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

1. Anterior/posterior uveitis is the swelling of the middle layer of the eye, which is called the uvea.
2. Optic neuritis is an inflammatory eye condition that affects the nerve responsible for the vision and may lead to permanent blindness.
3. Iritis is inflammation (swelling) of the iris, the colored part of the eye.
4. Iridocyclitis is an inflammation of the iris (the colored part of the eye) and the ciliary body (muscles and tissue involved in focusing the eye).
5. Sympathetic ophthalmia is a rare eye condition that can develop after an eye injury or within days or weeks after eye surgery.
Lichen Planus
Lichen planus is an itchy skin rash that is not contagious. This condition mostly occurs in certain parts of the body such as skin, hair, nails, or mucous membranes. Macpred 4 MG Tablet is used in the treatment of lichen planus by reducing inflammation (swelling).
Keloids

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Macpred 4 MG Tablet if you are allergic it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
Systemic infections

Live vaccines
Macpred 4 MG Tablet is not recommended for use if you have received live vaccines as this medicine acts by suppressing immune activity. Thus the vaccine may not work well.

Driving or operating machines
Macpred 4 MG Tablet may cause dizziness in some cases. If you feel dizzy while taking this medicine, avoid driving vehicles or operating heavy machines.
Use in children
Avoid prolonged use of high doses of Macpred 4 MG Tablet in infants and children below 12 years as it may lead to increased fluid pressure inside the skull and on the brain tissue. It may also cause growth retardation (impaired growth and development) or pancreatitis (swelling of the organ in the lower part of the stomach called pancreas). Hence, your child’s doctor may limit the treatment to the lowest possible dose for the shortest period necessary.
Use in the elderly
Macpred 4 MG Tablet should be used with caution in the elderly due to the increased risk of side effects such as altered blood sugar levels, high blood pressure, low potassium levels in the blood, high blood pressure, weak and brittle bones, etc.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Try not to skip a scheduled dose of Macpred 4 MG Tablet. Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose of Macpred 4 MG Tablet. In case of an overdose, seek immediate medical attention for further guidance.

General Instructions

Take Macpred 4 MG Tablet as instructed by your doctor. Do not break, chew, or crush the tablet.

Do not take in larger or smaller amounts than prescribed.
