Description

Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet is a combination of Hydrochlorothiazide, Amlodipine and Olmesartan. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine works by relaxing the heart muscles and blood vessels. It also increases the water and sodium excretion from the body. Thus, it promotes the smooth flow of blood throughout the body.

Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet has some side effects like swelling in your ankles or feet, headache, sleepiness, dizziness, cough, nausea, and upset stomach. This medicine may cause you to urinate more often as it works by removing extra water from your body. If any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get worse, consult your doctor immediately. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it.

Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose will be decided by your doctor depending on your health condition. Take this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level in the blood. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without your doctor’s consultation as it can cause your blood pressure to rise, thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke (a condition that occurs due to reduced blood supply to the brain).

When not to use?

Allergy

Aliskiren
Coadministration of Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce blood pressure) is not recommended if you have diabetes (high blood sugar levels) and/or moderate to severe kidney impairment as it may increase the risk of kidney damage.
Anuria
Anuria is a condition in which the kidneys are unable to produce urine. Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet is not recommended for use if you have anuria as it may further damage your kidneys.
Moderate to Severe Hepatic Impairment
Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have moderate to severe liver problems as it may further worsen your condition.
Severe kidney impairment

Driving and operating machines
Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet may cause dizziness and a decrease in blood pressure. Avoid performing activities that require high mental alertness like driving vehicles or operating machines if you experience such symptoms.
Use in athletes
Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet is not recommended to be used by athletes as per the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA).
Volume and electrolyte depletion
Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet may alter the blood volume and electrolyte levels. Hypotension

Aortic stenosis
Aortic stenosis is the narrowing of the valves of the heart that regulates the blood flow from the heart to the body. Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution if you have aortic stenosis. This medicine affects the contraction of the heart and may worsen your condition.
Hyperkalaemia
Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet should be used with caution as it may cause hyperkalaemia (high potassium levels in the blood). Your doctor may suggest a test to monitor the potassium levels regularly. Avoid potassium-rich foods (potatoes, bananas) and potassium supplements during treatment with this medicine.

Dosage

Missed Dose

Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose of Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, seek immediate medical attention.

Interactions

General Instructions
Take Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet exactly as advised by your doctor. Try taking this medicine during the daytime to avoid frequent urination at night.
Drink plenty of water to avoid dehydration. Do not break, chew or crush the tablet.

Take Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet around the same time every day so that it is easy to remember.

Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet may cause swelling in your ankles and feet, therefore, avoid sitting for long hours and try raising your legs on a low stool when you are sitting.

Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines and rise up slowly from a sitting or lying position if you feel dizzy during treatment with Tripin OM (12.5/5/20 mg) Tablet.

To get maximum benefits from the treatment, you should also adopt lifestyle changes like eating a low sodium and low-fat diet, exercising regularly, quitting smoking, etc.

Avoid potassium-rich foods like bananas, oranges, etc. while taking this medicine.
