Talimus LS Ointment (Tacrolimus 0.03%)

Description

Talimus 0.03% Ointment is used to treat atopic dermatitis (a skin condition that causes your skin to become dry, red, and itchy). This medicine works by preventing your immune system from producing certain chemical substances and helps in providing relief from the symptoms of atopic dermatitis.

Talimus 0.03% Ointment may cause burning, itching, redness or tingling sensation at the application site. Consult your doctor if these symptoms persist or worsen.

Talimus 0.03% Ointment should be applied externally to the affected part of your skin as directed by your doctor. Continue using this medicine for the prescribed duration to avoid a flare-up of your symptoms.

Talimus 0.03% Ointment should be avoided if you are allergic to it. This medicine in 0.1% strength is not recommended in children below 16 years of age and in 0.03% strength is not recommended in children below two years of age. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or are planning a pregnancy, consult your doctor before using this medication.

What is it prescribed for?
Atopic dermatitis
Atopic dermatitis, the most common form of eczema, is a condition that causes your skin to become dry, red, and itchy (usually on your arms and behind the knees). It is common in children, usually develops in early childhood, and is more common in people who have a family history of this condition. Talimus 0.03% Ointment is used in the treatment of atopic dermatitis.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid using Talimus 0.03% Ointment if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of your face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Warnings

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Due to a lack of safety and efficacy studies in pregnant women, the risk to your developing foetus due to Talimus 0.03% Ointment is not known. This medicine is not recommended during pregnancy unless necessary. If you are pregnant, consult your doctor.
Breast-feeding
It is not known if Talimus 0.03% Ointment passes into breastmilk. This medicine is not recommended during breastfeeding unless necessary. If you are breastfeeding, consult your doctor. If indicated for use, avoid applying this medicine to breast areas (nipple) that may come into contact with your infant.
General warnings
Use in children
Talimus 0.03% Ointment in 0.1% strength is not recommended in children below 16 years of age and in 0.03% strength is not recommended in children below two years of age.
External use only
Talimus 0.03% Ointment is meant for external use only. Do not use this medicine on infected skin or open wounds. Avoid contact with your eyes. In case of accidental contact with your eyes, rinse it thoroughly with water.
Other skin problems
Talimus 0.03% Ointment is not recommended if you have Netherton’s syndrome (a rare, genetic condition causing abnormalities of your skin, hair, and immune system), lamellar ichthyosis (a rare, genetic condition affecting your skin), generalized erythroderma (a condition with widespread reddening of your skin) due to the increased risk of severe side effects.
Other medicines
Talimus 0.03% Ointment may interact with other medicines meant for topical use. Concomitant use of this medicine and other medicines for external use on the same area of your skin should therefore be avoided. Inform your doctor about the topical preparations (ointments/lotions/gels) that you may have been using to avoid undesired side effects.
Skin sensitivity
Talimus 0.03% Ointment may increase the sensitivity of your skin to sunlight. Avoid excessive exposure to sunlight, wear protective clothing and use sunscreen with a high sun protection factor while on treatment with this medicine.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Apply the missed dose of Talimus 0.03% Ointment as soon as you remember. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Since Talimus 0.03% Ointment is intended for external use, the likelihood of side effects due to an overdose is low. However, do not apply more than the prescribed dose.

Interactions

General Instructions
Talimus 0.03% Ointment is meant for external use only. Use this medicine as directed by your doctor.

Use Talimus 0.03% Ointment at around the same time every day for ease of remembrance. Do not discontinue the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Do not cover the application area with bandages or other coverings.

Avoid exposure to sunlight while on treatment with Talimus 0.03% Ointment.

Do not give Talimus 0.03% Ointment to others even if their condition appears to be the same as yours.
