Atonide Cream (Desonide 0.05%)

Atonide Cream 20 gm belongs to the group of medicines known as topical corticosteroids used to treat skin problems that may cause redness, itching and swelling. It is generally prescribed in mild to moderate atopic dermatitis (eczema), seborrheic dermatitis, and contact dermatitis.

Atopic dermatitis is a condition in which the skin becomes red and itchy. Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin condition which causes itchy rash with flaky scales. Contact dermatitis is a condition in which the skin becomes red and inflamed after it comes in contact with any allergens (substance which causes allergy or irritation).

Atonide Cream 20 gm works by getting absorbed into the skin cells and then stop these cells from producing certain chemicals that cause inflammation. These chemicals are normally released when the skin reacts to any type of allergens (allergy causing foreign elements).

Atonide Cream 20 gm is for external use only. Take a pea-sized amount onto your finger and apply it directly onto the affected area and gently massage it in. If Atonide Cream 20 gm comes in contact with eyes, nose or mouth, rinse with water immediately. You are advised to use Atonide Cream 20 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as skin peeling, dryness, burning sensation, irritation, stinging sensation, itching and redness at the site of application. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

To treat your condition effectually continue using Atonide Cream 20 gm for as long as your doctor has prescribed it. Do not use Atonide Cream 20 gm for more than 4 weeks unless prescribed by a doctor. Reducing stress, eating healthy food and maintaining a good sleep cycle would be helpful. Do not use Atonide Cream 20 gm if you had a skin reaction or irritation to any steroid medicine. Desonide is a category C pregnancy drug, so consult your doctor before using Atonide Cream 20 gm if you are pregnant or breast-feeding. Do not apply Atonide Cream 20 gm on chest if you are breast-feeding. Atonide Cream 20 gm is not recommended for children below 3 months of age as the efficacy and safety have not been established.
