Medical Description

Rifaxigyl M Tablet is a combination of Metronidazole and Rifaximin. It is used to treat diarrhoea and dysentery caused by various susceptible organisms. Rifaxigyl M Tablet belongs to the antibiotic class of medicine and works by inhibiting the growth of bacteria. It should not be used in children below 18 years of age. Take it as the prescribed dose and for the prescribed duration and never miss or skip a dose. Inform your doctor if you have any medical condition and are on any medication. You may experience dry mouth, headache, dizziness, nausea, vomiting and stomach pain. If these symptoms do not resolve or worsen, consult your doctor.

Contraindications of Rifaxigyl M Strip Of 10 Tablets

If you are allergic to Metronidazole, Rifaximin or any other component of Rifaxigyl M Tablet.
If you have a history of intestinal obstruction.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if

You experience reddish or dark colour urine.
You experience any other unwanted effects.
Rifaxigyl M Tablet should not be used in children below 18 years of age.

Directions for Use of Rifaxigyl M Strip Of 10 Tablets

Rifaxigyl M Tablet should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow it whole with a glass of water. Take it at a fixed time for optimal results. Do not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Interactions of Rifaxigyl M Strip Of 10 Tablets

Interactions with other medicines
Rifaxigyl M Tablet may increase or decrease the effect of blood thinner medicine such as warfarin when co-administered.
Immunosuppressive medicine such as cyclosporine may increase the effect of Rifaxigyl M Tablet when co-administered.
Medicine used to treat fits such as phenytoin, phenobarbital decreases the effect of Rifaxigyl M Tablet when used along.
Rifaxigyl M Tablet increases the effect of anticancer medicine such as 5-fluorouracil, busulfan when co-administered.
Rifaxigyl M Tablet may increase the effect of anti-anxiety medicines such as lithium when co-administered.

Dosage of Rifaxigyl M Strip Of 10 Tablets

Overdose
Excess of Rifaxigyl M Tablet may cause vomiting, loss of coordination and slight disorientation.
If you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor or reach out to the nearest hospital immediately.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed taking any dose of Rifaxigyl M Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s already time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and follow the regular dosing schedule.
