What is it prescribed for?
Allergic conditions
This medicine is used to relieve the symptoms of allergic rhinitis symptoms like a stuffy or runny nose, itchy and watery eyes, redness or sneezing nose, etc. It may also be used in the treatment of urticaria characterized by the symptoms like red and itchy rashes, raised bumps on the skin, etc.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use if you have a known allergy to dexchlorpheniramine, or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.
Neonates and premature infants
This medicine is not recommended for use in neonates and premature infants less than 2 years of age due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.
Benign prostatic hyperplasia
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients suffering from benign prostatic hyperplasia due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition.
Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOI)
This medicine is not recommended if the patient has taken MAO inhibitors like selegiline or rasagiline within the last 14 days. Their combination may increase the risk of adverse effects like drowsiness, blurred vision, as well as a life-threatening condition called serotonin syndrome.

General warnings
Use in elderly

Use in children
This medicine is not recommended for use in children under the age of 2 years due to the risk of serious side effects.
Gastrointestinal blockage
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with a gastrointestinal obstruction due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Glaucoma
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with glaucoma since it may increase the intraocular pressure, leading to an increased risk of vision problems. This risk is especially higher in elderly patients.
Driving or operating machinery
This medicine may cause dizziness or drowsiness in some patients. It is advised that you do not perform any activities that require high mental alertness like a vehicle or operating machinery if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for the next scheduled dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.
