Desowen Cream (Desonide 0.05%)

Description

Desowen Cream is a topical medicine that consists of Desonide. It is used to treat swelling and itching associated with various skin conditions like eczema (thick, dry, and itchy skin), psoriasis (dry and itchy skin with scaly patches), dermatitis (skin irritation), etc. Desowen Cream works by blocking the action of certain substances that cause swelling, redness, and itching.

Desowen Cream may cause some side effects such as stinging, burning sensation, itching, irritation, dryness, or redness at the site of application. These side effects are usually mild and may subside by themselves. However, consult your doctor if they persist or worsen. Avoid using this medicine if you are allergic to it.

Desowen Cream is meant for external use only. Use this medicine as prescribed by your doctor. Avoid contact with the eyes, nose, mouth, and open wounds. Wash thoroughly with water in case of accidental contact. Do not apply more than the prescribed quantity of this medicine.

Desowen Cream may not be suitable for everyone. Inform your doctor if you have glaucoma (an eye condition with abnormally high pressure inside the eye that may eventually lead to blindness) or active viral, bacterial, or fungal infections before starting the treatment with this medicine. When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid using Desowen Cream if you are allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions to this medicine are rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Apply the missed dose of Desowen Cream as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
An overdose of Desowen Cream is not likely to cause severe symptoms unless it is applied for a prolonged period in large amounts. However, ingestion of this medicine may cause harm and immediate medical intervention may be required.

General Instructions

Apply a thin layer of Desowen Cream to the affected area as instructed by your doctor. Follow all the usage instructions mentioned on the label or the package insert.

Do not apply in larger or smaller quantities than recommended.

Avoid covering the application area with bandages or other coverings unless specifically instructed by your doctor.

Contact your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or become worse after two weeks of use.
