Description

Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet is a combination of Amlodipine and Olmesartan. It is used in the treatment of high blood pressure. This medicine works by relaxing your heart muscles and blood vessels. This promotes the smooth flow of blood and makes it easier for your heart to pump blood throughout the body.

Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet shows side effects like swelling in your ankles or feet, headache, sleepiness, dizziness, nausea, and upset stomach. Usually, these side effects are temporary. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects do not resolve with time or get worse. Avoid taking this medicine if you are allergic to it.

Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet can be taken with or without food. The dose will be decided by your doctor depending on your blood pressure level. Take this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level in the blood. Avoid the discontinuation of this medicine without your doctor’s consultation as it can cause your blood pressure to rise, thereby increasing the risk of heart attack and stroke (a condition that occurs due to reduced blood supply to the brain).

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling of the face/tongue/throat, breathing difficulty, etc.
Aliskiren
Combined use of Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet and Aliskiren (a medicine used to reduce blood pressure) is not recommended if you have diabetes (high blood sugar levels) and/or moderate to severe kidney impairment as it may increase the risk of kidney damage.

Aortic stenosis

Hyperkalaemia

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you miss a dose of Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next scheduled dose, then skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose of Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, seek immediate medical attention.

Interactions

General Instructions
Take Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet with or without food. Do not break chew or crush the tablet.

It may increase the level of potassium in the blood. Avoid taking potassium supplements and potassium-rich foods such as bananas and broccoli.

Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet may cause swelling in your ankles and feet, therefore, avoid sitting for long hours and try raising your legs on a low stool when you are sitting.

Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines and rise up slowly from a sitting or lying position if you feel dizzy during treatment with Olmy A (5/20 mg) Tablet.
