What is LIPICURE CV 10/75MG?

LIPICURE CV 10/75MG contains the active ingredients called Atorvastatin and Clopidogrel
Atorvastatin belongs to a group of medicines known as statins, which are lipid (fat) regulating medicines
Clopidogrel belongs to a group of medicines called antiplatelet medicinal products

What LIPICURE CV 10/75MG is used for?

LIPICURE CV 10/75MG is used to lower lipids known as cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood
It can also be used to reduce risk of heart disease (atherosclerosis, unstable angina) prevent the risk of clots even if your cholesterol levels are normal
It can be given in combination with acetylsalicylic acid (a substance present in many medicines used to relieve pain and lower fever as well as to prevent blood clotting) by your doctor

Warning & Precautions

Talk to your doctor before you are taking LIPICURE CV 10/75MG, if you:

Are allergic to Atorvastatin or clopidogrel or any other ingredients of this medicine
Have a medical condition that is currently causing bleeding
Have had a previous stroke
Have kidney or liver problems
Have an under-active thyroid gland (hypothyroidism)
Have had repeated or unexplained muscle aches or pains
Have severe respiratory failure
A recent serious injury
Have had a clot in an artery of your brain (ischemic stroke) which occurred within the last seven days
Develop a medical condition (also known as Thrombotic Thrombocytopenic Purpura or TTP)

Interactions

Tell your doctor, if you are taking,

Immunosuppressants
Certain antibiotics or antifungal medicines
Some calcium channel blockers
Anti-viral, antifungals
Or have taken in the last 7 days a medicine called fusidic acid, (a medicine for bacterial infection) orally or by injection. The combination of fusidic acid and Atorvastatin can lead to serious muscle problems (rhabdomyolysis)
Warfarin (which reduces blood clotting), oral contraceptives, stiripentol (an anti-convulsant for epilepsy)
Phenazone (a painkiller)
Colchicine (used to treat gout)
Antacids (indigestion products containing aluminium or magnesium)
St john wort for depression
Oral anticoagulants, heparin or any other injectable medicine
Used medicines usually used to treat depression
Omeprazole or esomeprazole, medicines to treat upset stomach
Anti fungals
Carbamazepine, a medicine to treat some forms of epilepsy
Moclobemide, medicine to treat depression
Repaglinide, medicine to treat diabetes
Paclitaxel, medicine to treat cancer

Directions & For Use

Take LIPICURE CV 10/75MG exactly as prescribed
Your doctor will usually start you on a low dose and increase your dose slowly to control your blood sugar levels
Do not change your dose unless told to do so by your doctor
Swallow the medicine
Never crush or chew this medicine
If you take more LIPICURE CV 10/75MG

Contact your doctor or the nearest hospital emergency department because of the increased risk of bleeding
If you forget to take LIPICURE CV 10/75MG

If you forget to take a dose of LIPICURE CV 10/75MG, but remember within 12 hours of your usual time, take your tablet straightaway and then take your next tablet at the usual time
Do not take a double dose to make up for a forgotten tablet
If you stop taking LIPICURE CV 10/75MG

Do not stop the treatment unless your doctor tells you so. Contact your doctor before stopping

Side Effects

Like all medicines, this medicine can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

Atorvastatin

Swelling of face, tongue and throat that can cause great difficulty in breathing.
Serious illness with severe peeling and swelling of the skin, blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes, genitals and fever
Skin rash with pink-red blotches especially on palms of hands or soles of feet which may blister
Muscle weakness, tenderness or pain
Problems with unexpected or unusual bleeding or bruising, this may be suggestive of a liver complaint
Clopidogrel

Fever, signs of infection or extreme tiredness. These may be due to rare decrease of some blood cells
Signs of liver problems such as yellowing of the skin and/or the eyes (jaundice)
Bleeding which appears under the skin as red pinpoint dots and/or confusion
Swelling in the mouth or skin disorders such as rashes and itching, blisters of the skin

Storage

Keep this medicine out of reach of children
Store at room temperature (15 – 25ºC)
Do not use this medicine after the expiry date
