Hifenac Spas Tablet (Drotaverine 80mg / Aceclofenac 100mg)

Description

Hifenac Spas Tablet is a combination medicine that consists of Aceclofenac and Drotaverine. It is mainly used in the treatment of muscular pain associated with spasms in adults. It can also be used to treat dysmenorrhoea (pain associated with period cramps). Hifenac Spas Tablet can provide relief from pain and swelling that occurs due to muscle cramps and spasms.

Hifenac Spas Tablet works by blocking certain enzyme receptors that cause muscle spasms and preventing the release of substances called prostaglandins in the brain that cause pain and fever. It can provide relief from pain and swelling due to arthritic conditions but does not cure it.

Hifenac Spas Tablet may cause some side effects like dry mouth, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomach pain, loss of appetite, and diarrhoea. Do not use this medicine if you are allergic to it. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines after taking this medicine as it may cause dizziness. Do not consume alcohol while using this medicine as it may worsen drowsiness.

Hifenac Spas Tablet should be taken with food, milk, or an antacid to avoid stomach irritation. For the ease of remembering, take it at the same time every day. Do not stop using this medicine even if you feel better after taking a few doses as abrupt stopping may worsen your condition and lead to more severe symptoms.

Hifenac Spas Tablet may not be suitable for all people. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney problems before taking this medicine. This medicine is not recommended to be used if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding. Hifenac Spas Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 12 years of age.

Uses of Hifenac Spas Tablet

What is it prescribed for?
Muscular pain with spasm
Muscle spasm is a common state of involuntary contraction of muscles that causes severe pain. It can occur due to stress, tension, vigorous physical activity, or some medical conditions. Hifenac Spas Tablet is used to relieve mild to moderate pain in the muscles associated with spasms.
Dysmenorrhea
Dysmenorrhea is the cramping pain caused during periods in women caused by contractions of the uterus. Secondary dysmenorrhoea is pain that occurs due to reproductive system disorders. Hifenac Spas Tablet is used to relieve mild to moderate pain associated with dysmenorrhoea.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Hifenac Spas Tablet if you are allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions to this medicine are rare. However, seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
Severe liver/kidney diseases
Use of Hifenac Spas Tablet should be avoided if you have any kidney or liver problems as it may increase the risk of worsening your condition.
Heart diseases
Hifenac Spas Tablet should be used with caution if you have heart problems like congestive heart failure due to the risk of complications and worsening your condition.
Asthma
Hifenac Spas Tablet should be used with caution if you have Asthma especially if you experience allergic reactions with the use of non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (medicines used in the treatment of pain and fever) like aspirin.
Blood clotting disorder
Hifenac Spas Tablet may prolong the blood clotting time and therefore increase the risk of bleeding. Hence, it is not recommended for use if you have blood clotting disorders as it may worsen your condition.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you forget to take a dose of HifenacSpas Tablet, make sure that you remember to take your next dose when it is due. Do not take two doses together to make up for a missed one.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose of HifenacSpas Tablet. If you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of this medicine, seek emergency medical help.

General Instructions

Take Hifenac Spas Tablet with food to avoid stomach irritation. Never take more than the prescribed dose. Take this medicine at around the same time daily.

Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor. Take it in dose and duration prescribed by your doctor.

Long-term use may lead to complications such as stomach bleeding and kidney problems.

Do not drive vehicles or operate machines if you experience dizziness and drowsiness after taking this medicine.

Avoid alcohol consumption while on treatment with this medicine. Do not take it with any other medicine containing Paracetamol or any drugs for pain/fever or cough-and-cold, without consulting your doctor first.

Your doctor may regularly monitor your kidney, liver, heart function and levels of blood components if you are taking this medicine for a longer duration.

Keep away from the reach of children and pets. Do not use it after the date of expiry.
