Dorzox Eye Drop (Dorzolamide 2%)

INTRODUCTION

DORZOX contains dorzolamide, an ophthalmic carbonic anhydrase inhibitor which reduces high pressure in the eye. It is used to lower raised pressure in eye conditions such as ocular hypertension and glaucoma. Dorzolamide eye drops can used alone or in addition to other medicines such as beta-blockers which lower the pressure in the eye. Ocular hypertension is a condition where high amounts of pressure build up in the eye due to too much of fluid enters the eye without being drained. This pressure can damage the optic nerve resulting in glaucoma.

Always use DORZOX exactly as prescribed by your doctor. The most common side effects are burning and stinging of the eyes, nausea, bitter taste, weakness/fatigue, headache. Contact your doctor if you develop any eye irritation or any new eye problems such as redness of the eye or swelling of the surface layer of the eye or eyelids. Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking this medicine, it may cause blurred vision. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or have a plan to become pregnant. It should not be used during pregnancy or breast feeding unless your doctor recommends it.

HOW DORZOX WORKS

Dorzolamide blocks the action of an enzyme called carbonic anhydrase. By blocking this enzyme, it reduces the amount of fluid in the front part of the eye, and thus helps in lowering the pressure within the eye.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always use DORZOX exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Wash your hands before putting in your eye drops. Tilt your head back and gently pull your lower eyelid down to form a small pocket between your eyelid and your eye. Turn the bottle upside down and squeeze it until a single drop is dispensed into the eye as directed by your doctor. Put the cap back on and close the bottle straight after you have used it. It is for external use only. Check the label for directions before use.

Throat irritation, dry mouth

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Keep try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal or snack and stick to simple meals and do not eat rich or spicy food.

Headache:

Apply hot or cold-water bag on your head. Take rest in a quiet and dark room. Drink tea or coffee.

OTHERS

Do not take this medicine before consulting your doctor, if you have suffered an eye injury or have an eye infection.
