Description

Budecort 1 MG Respules is used for the maintenance treatment of asthma. It is also used to treat croup (infection of the upper airways that cause breathing difficulty) in infants and children aged 12 months to 8 years. This medicine is not indicated in the treatment of an ongoing asthma attack. Budecort 1 MG Respules reduces swelling and irritation in your lungs.

Budecort 1 MG Respules may cause some side effects like thrush (a fungal infection), sore throat, cough and hoarse voice. Inform your doctor if the side effects become severe or persist for a long time.

Budecort 1 MG Respules should be used exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Put the respule solution into a nebuliser, let it transform into a fine mist and then inhale it through a face mask or a mouthpiece.

Budecort 1 MG Respules may interact with the action of other medicines. Inform your doctor about any other health issues like liver, kidney, heart troubles or if you are undergoing any medical treatment before taking this medicine. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or are breastfeeding.

What is it prescribed for?
Asthma
Asthma is a condition in which there is an inflammation (swelling and redness) of airways characterized by breathing difficulty. Budecort 1 MG Respules is used to prevent the symptoms of asthma, such as breathing difficulty, chest tightness, wheezing and coughing.
Croup
Croup is an infection seen in infants and children. It causes irritation and swelling of the upper airways that cause breathing difficulty and barking cough. Budecort 1 MG Respules is used to treat the symptoms of croup in infants and children aged 12 months to 8 years.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Budecort 1 MG Respules if you are allergic to it. Allergic reactions are very rare to this medicine. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (of your face/tongue/throat), breathing difficulties, etc.
Status asthmaticus
Budecort 1 MG Respules is not recommended for use in status asthmaticus (a severe attack where airways of your lungs are constricted) as a first-line therapy because it is not effective in treating this condition.

General warnings

Infections
Budecort 1 MG Respules will decrease the immune response (defence mechanism) of your body and mask the symptoms of infection. This will increase the risk of secondary infections (that occurs during or after treating an infection), thus use this medicine carefully.
Diabetes
Budecort 1 MG Respules may increase the blood sugar levels and worsen the symptoms of diabetes (a condition in which blood sugar level is increased). Use it carefully if you have diabetes.
Impaired liver function
Use Budecort 1 MG Respules with caution if you have liver problems. This medicine is broken down in your liver. Having liver problems may increase the accumulation of this medicine in your body which may damage your liver further. Your doctor will suggest tests to regularly monitor your liver function. They may also adjust the dose of the medicine as per requirements.
Decrease bone density
Budecort 1 MG Respules may reduce bone density by reducing calcium absorption. Because of the risk of developing bone injuries, it should be used with caution, especially if you are a postmenopausal (after menopause) woman.
Growth retardation
Budecort 1 MG Respules may cause growth retardation in some children, especially if used in high doses for a long time. Therefore, children receiving this medicine should be monitored closely with regard to growth parameters.
Candida infection
Use of Budecort 1 MG Respules for extended periods of time may cause candida infection or any other signs of side effects on the nasal and oral area.

Dosage

Missed Dose
If you missed a dose of Budecort 1 MG Respules, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it’s almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact your doctor in case of an overdose of Budecort 1 MG Respules. Symptoms of an overdose may include sensitive skin, easy bruising, changes in body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual problems and impotence.

Use Budecort 1 MG Respules exactly as advised by your doctor.
Consult your doctor if you experience any side effects.
Ensure that the treatment course is completed.
Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
To avoid asthma attacks, take it at the same time every day.
To avoid fungal infections in your mouth and throat, gargle with warm water after each inhalation.
Never exhale into the mouthpiece.
