Atorec-F Tablet (Atorvastatin 10mg / Fenofibrate 160mg)

Description

Atorec-F Tablet is a combination of Atorvastatin and Fenofibrate. It is used orally to reduce the level of bad cholesterol and fats in your body. High levels of cholesterols and fats increase the risk of heart attack and stroke.

Atorec-F Tablet works by reducing the formation of cholesterol and fats in your body. It also increases the natural fat breakdown in your body. It is used when the diet (low-fat diet) alone has failed to normalize the fat levels.

The common side effects of Atorec-F Tablet use are nausea, stomach pain, constipation, headache and excessive gas in your stomach. Usually, these side effects resolve on their own. Avoid taking this medicine if you are previously allergic to it.

While on Atorec-F Tablet treatment, notify your doctor if you are more tired than usual, do not feel hungry, or if you have yellow eyes and skin. Consult your doctor at the earliest if you experience muscle pain or weakness, particularly if it is accompanied by fever. Consult your doctor if any of the side effects persist or worsen.

Take Atorec-F Tablet with or without food. Take this medicine at the same time every day for ease of remembering and to avoid missing a dose. Do not stop taking it until you have finished the complete course, even when you feel better.

Avoid taking Atorec-F Tablet if you have liver disease. You should also let your doctor know about your medical history and regarding all other medicines you are taking as they may affect this medicine.

Diabetic patients should monitor their blood sugar levels while taking Atorec-F Tablet, as it may lead to an increase in blood sugar levels. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding.

Uses of Atorec-F Tablet

What is it prescribed for?
Combined hyperlipidemia
Combined hyperlipidemia is a condition characterized by an increased amount of bad cholesterol (LDL) and triglycerides and a decreased amount of good cholesterol (HDL) in your blood. This results in an increased risk of cardiovascular effects. Atorec-F Tablet is used to treat combined hyperlipidemia.

When not to use?

Allergy

Avoid taking Atorec-F Tablet if you are previously allergic to it. A serious allergic reaction to this medicine is rare. Seek an immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms of allergic reactions such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.

Kidney Disease

Atorec-F Tablet is excreted by your kidneys. Kidney disease may lead to impaired filtration of this medicine leading to the accumulation of this medicine in your kidneys. This accumulation may worsen your liver condition. Hence, Atorec-F Tablet is not recommended for use in case of kidney disease (CrCl < 30 ml/min).

Gallbladder Disease

Atorec-F Tablet is not recommended for use if you have gallbladder diseases due to the increased risk of gallbladder stones.

Liver Disease

Atorec-F Tablet is converted into its active form by liver. The presence of liver disease may impair the conversion of this medicine into its active form leading to the accumulation of this medicine in your liver. This accumulation may worsen your liver condition. Hence, Atorec-F Tablet is not recommended for use if there is an active liver disease.
