INTRODUCTION

CAVERTA 50MG contains Sildenafil which belongs to a group of medicines called phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. It is used to treat adult men with erectile dysfunction, also known as impotence. It happens when a man cannot get, or keep a hard, erect penis suitable for sexual activity. Erectile dysfunction (ED) is inability of men to attain and maintain an erect penis with sufficient rigidity to allow sexual intercourse. This medicine works by helping to relax the blood vessels in penis, allowing blood to flow into penis when you get sexually excited.

Sildenafil acts by inhibiting PDE-5 and enhancing NO action in the penis. The mechanism of erection of the penis involves release of nitric oxide (NO) during sexual stimulation. NO then activates the enzyme guanylate cyclase, which results in increased levels of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), resulting in smooth muscle relaxation and inflow of blood to the penis.

Always take this CAVERTA 50MG exactly as directed by your doctor. It is not suitable for women or children and adolescents under 18 years of age. Before taking this medicine tell your doctor if you have severe heart or liver problems, if you have recently had a stroke or heart attack or if you have low blood pressure. Tell your doctor know if you suffer from these or any other health problems before taking it.

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Feeling sick (nausea) or indigestion:

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking or have recently taken any other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription or the following:

Nitroglycerin
Amyl nitrite
Riociguat (used to treat pulmonary arterial hypertension)
Protease inhibitors (used to treat HIV)
Alpha-blockers (terazosin hydrochloride)
