Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s belongs to the class of drugs called bronchodilators primarily used to prevent and treat symptoms of asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Asthma is a chronic (long-term) respiratory condition in which airways narrow, swell, and produce extra mucus, leading to difficulty in breathing. COPD is a group of lung diseases with emphysema (shortness of breath) and chronic bronchitis (inflammation of the lining of bronchial tubes).

Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s contains Acebrophylline that works by relaxing muscles and widening the airways of the lungs. Additionally, Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s also acts as mucolytic (cough/sputum thinner) agent and helps in thinning and loosening phlegm (mucus) in lungs, windpipe and nose. Thereby, it helps to cough out easily and makes breathing easier by opening airways.

Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s is available in both oral capsule and syrup dosage forms. The syrup form of Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s should be taken with food as advised by your doctor. The capsule form of Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s should be swallowed whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it. Your doctor will recommend you how often you take Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s based on your medical condition. Some people may experience diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, dizziness, heartburn, stomach discomfort, skin rash or drowsiness. Drug-Drug Interaction: Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s may interact with water pills (furosemide), medicines used to treat gout (allopurinol), antacid (cimetidine), antibiotics (ciprofloxacin, erythromycin, amoxicillin, doxycycline), drugs used to lower high blood pressure (diltiazem, verapamil), heart-related medicines (isoprenaline), anthelmintic (thiabendazole),  corticosteroids (prednisone) and oral contraceptives (ethinylestradiol).

Drug-Food Interaction: Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s may interact with alcohol. Therefore, avoid intake of alcohol with Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s as it may increase drowsiness. Also, avoid or limit the intake of caffeine with Xanilax SR 200 Tablet 10’s as it may cause side effects.
