Contraindications of Trazalon 50 MG

Do not take Trazalon tablets:
If you have trazodone hypersensitivity or known allergies to any components in this medication.
If you have had a recent heart attack and/or suffer from abnormal heart rhythms.
If you are a child or adolescent under 18; this medicine can increase the risk of suicidal ideation in this age group.
If you are intoxicated with alcohol or other hypnotics.
If you have acute narrow-angle glaucoma.

How Does It Work?

Trazalon tablets primarily work by targeting the brain pathways that involve the neurotransmitter serotonin. This chemical messenger promotes mood and personality as well as wakefulness. Trazadone is a Serotonin Antagonist and Reuptake Inhibitor (SARI), and by affecting serotonin in the brain, it relieves the symptoms of depression. Directions for Use of Trazalon 50 MG

This medication should be taken as prescribed by the treating physician.
It is recommended to take this medication on a regular schedule, that is, at the same time every day for optimal effects.
Swallow this tablet as a whole. Do not crush or chew it.
It is recommended to complete the entire course of this medication as prescribed by your treating doctor. It can take up to 2-4 weeks for the maximum efficacy of this medicine to manifest.
Abrupt stoppage of the medicine can cause withdrawal effects. Consult your doctor before stopping this medication.

Interactions of Trazalon 50 MG

Interactions with other medicines

This medicine should not be used concomitantly or within two weeks of using any monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) like Selegiline, Rasagiline, etc. It may cause Serotonin Syndrome, which is potentially life-threatening.

Overdose

In case of a suspected overdose, rush the affected person to a tertiary care centre with ICU facilities for further evaluation and treatment.

Missed a Dose

If you miss a dose of this tablet, it is advised to take it as soon as possible. If it is almost time for the next dose, it is recommended to skip the missed dose and go back to the regular dosing schedule. Do not double the dose of the tablet to make up for the missed one.
