Tafero 25 MG
Tafero 25 mg tablet is an antiviral medication. The main use of the Tafero 25 mg tablet is to manage the viral infections caused by the Hepatitis B virus. It is used to treat chronic cases of Hepatit
s B infection in adults and children over the age of 12 and bodyweight of over 35 kgs. The main ingredient of this medication is Tenofovir Alafenamide. The mode of action of Tafero 25 mg tablets is to prevent the action of certain enzymes responsible for the formation of proteins required for the growth and multiplication of the virus. This results in the death of the virus. If you stop using these tablets suddenly, the symptoms of hepatitis B may get worse. If it does, consult your doctor. Diarrhea, headache, depression, rash, and itching are a few of the side effects of the Tafero 25 mg tablet. While taking this medicine, the patient may need to get regular blood tests. Try to follow your doctor’s directions for using the Tafero 25 mg tablet. Also, inform your doctor if you got pregnant or are already expecting before using this tablet. This medicine does not completely eliminate the viral infection; it only lowers and manages it. The transmission of the virus is still possible through sexual contact or blood transfusion, so be cautious.

Interactions of Tafero 25 MG
Interactions with other medicines
-
If you are using a Tafero 25 mg tablet along with anti-seizure medicines like carbamazepine, phenytoin, and phenobarbital, caution and monitoring of the dose are required. These tablets can lower the levels of Tafero tablet levels in the body leading to its reduced effectiveness in killing the virus.
-
Do not use P-gp inducers (e.g., rifampicin, rifabutin, carbamazepine, phenobarbital, or St. John’s wort) along with Tafero tablets. The combination is expected to lower plasma concentrations of Tafero tablets, which may lead to loss of therapeutic effect.
-
Using different types of antiviral medicine such as Atazanavir along with Tafero 25 mg tablets will lead to a decrease in the levels of Atazanavir and an increase in the levels of Tafero tablets in the body. In such a case, either another antiviral, ritonavir, is added to increase the effectiveness of Atazanavir, or the toxicity of Tafero tablets is monitored.
-
Using an antiviral combination of Lopinavir and ritonavir along with Tafero tablets can cause an increase in the toxicity of Tafero tablets. Hence, the blood levels of Tafero tablets should be monitored.
-
Tafero 25 mg tablets should not be given with various other medicines such as Didanosine, ganciclovir, aminoglycosides, vancomycin, etc., to prevent any kidney damage. This combination of medicines can cause toxicity to kidneys and damage them.
Interactions with food items
-
Try to avoid drinking grapefruit juice or its fruits while taking the Tafero tablet. It might increase the levels of tenofovir in the body, one of the ingredients in Tafero tablets. This could raise the risk of side effects.
