Surfaz Cream (Clotrimazole 1%)

Surfaz Cream 15 gm is primarily used to treat fungal infections of the skin such as athlete’s foot, jock itch, ringworm and other fungal skin infections. This medication is also used to treat a skin condition known as pityriasis (flaking or scaling of the skin). Surfaz Cream 15 gm works by destroying the fungus that causes the infection. Surfaz Cream 15 gm destroys the infection by allowing the holes to open in the cell membrane and the components to leak out. This kills the fungus and cures the infection.

Surfaz Cream 15 gm should be used for skin only and accidentally if it gets into your eye, mouth or nose rinse with water. Surfaz Cream 15 gm should be applied to the affected area with a piece of clean cotton wool or gauze swab. Surfaz Cream 15 gm should not be applied more than the recommended dose, to avoid unpleasant side effects. Some common side effects of Surfaz Cream 15 gm are burning, itching, redness, stinging and dryness on your skin in the place where Surfaz Cream 15 gm ointment is applied. Sensitive allergic reaction (skin hypersensitivity reactions) like rashes, itching, swelling, and hypotension can occur in rare cases. Please consult your doctor if an allergic reaction becomes severe.

Tell your doctor if you are known to allergic to Surfaz Cream 15 gm or any other medicines. It is not known whether Surfaz Cream 15 gm harm baby or passes into breast milk in pregnancy and breastfeeding state. It is better to contact a doctor before using Surfaz Cream 15 gm during pregnancy and while breastfeeding. If nursing mothers are applying Surfaz Cream 15 gm to their breast or nipple, they should wash the affected area thoroughly before nursing their baby.

Fungal infections

Surfaz Cream 15 gm is widely used to treat various fungal infections of the skin due to specific fungi (Trichophyton species) and certain yeasts (Candida species) by destroying its cell membrane.

The cream should be applied thinly and evenly to the affected area 2 – 3 times daily and rubbed in gently with a cotton swab or gauze pad. If the feet are infected, they should be thoroughly washed and dried, especially between the toes, before applying the cream.

In the beginning days of the treatment with Surfaz Cream 15 gm, you may suffer from burning, itching, redness, stinging and dryness on your skin in the place where Surfaz Cream 15 gm ointment is applied might occur. But these would be temporary and may be relieved after some time. However, if you still have discomfort speak with the doctor. Allergic reaction (Cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions) such as rashes, itching and swelling may occur in rare cases which is serious and can lead to a life-threatening condition.
