Relent Tablet (Cetirizine 5mg / Ambroxol 60mg)

Description

Relent Tablet is a combination of Ambroxol and Cetirizine. It is used to treat cough and common allergy symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, etc. It works by blocking a chemical substance responsible for allergic symptoms. It also helps to loosen the thick mucous and makes it easier to cough out.

Relent Tablet may cause some common side effects such as sleepiness, diarrhoea, dry mouth, dizziness, headache, etc. Consult your doctor if these symptoms stay for a long time or if they become severe.

Take Relent Tablet as advised by your doctor. Try not to skip a dose. However, in case of a missed dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed one. Do not double the dose to make up for a missed one. In case of an overdose, consult your doctor immediately.

Avoid taking Relent Tablet if you have a history of allergic to it or have experienced severe allergic reactions after taking it. Inform your doctor if you have liver or kidney diseases.

Relent Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age. If you are pregnant, take this medication only if prescribed by your doctor. If you are breastfeeding, the use of this medication is not recommended.

Uses of Relent Tablet

What is it prescribed for?
Productive cough
A cough is your body’s response to an irritant in your throat or lungs. It can occur in the presence of an infection or an allergy. A productive cough is associated with the release of mucus/phlegm. Relent Tablet works by loosening the mucus and makes it easier to cough out. It also helps in relieving allergic symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes, etc.

When not to use?

Allergy
Avoid taking Relent Tablet if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any worsening of your allergic symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulties, etc.
Severe kidney impairment
Relent Tablet is not recommended if you have severe kidney impairment with a creatinine clearance of less than 10 ml/min.

Warnings

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Due to the lack of sufficient safety data in pregnant women, the risk to the developing foetus is not known. If you are pregnant, use Relent Tablet only if prescribed by your doctor.
Breast-feeding
Relent Tablet passes into breastmilk. Hence if you are breastfeeding, this medication is not recommended.
General warnings
Other medicines
Relent Tablet may increase your risk of sleepiness and impaired thinking when taken with medicines that have a sedative (sleep-inducing) effect. Inform your doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs or supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.
Use in Children
Relent Tablet is not recommended for use in children below 6 years of age due to a lack of relevant safety and efficacy data.
Driving or operating a machine
Relent Tablet may cause dizziness or drowsiness. Avoid performing any activities that require high mental alertness like driving a vehicle or operating a machine if you experience any of these symptoms during treatment with this medicine.

Dosage

Missed Dose

Overdose
Do not take excess dose than prescribed by your doctor. Reach the nearest emergency medical department immediately or contact your doctor in case of an overdose with Relent Tablet.

Interactions

General Instructions
Take Relent Tablet with or without food. Drink an adequate amount of water.

Avoid taking more or less than the prescribed dose. Avoid discontinuation of this medicine without consulting your doctor.

Avoid consuming alcohol while taking Relent Tablet, as it may cause severe drowsiness and dizziness. Do not drive or operate machinery after taking this medicine, as it may affect your alertness.
