Qtern 5mg/10mg Tablet (Saxagliptin 5mg / Dapagliflozin 10mg)

Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s belongs to the group of anti-diabetic medicines used to treat type-2 diabetes mellitus adjunct to diet and exercise. Type-2 diabetes mellitus is also known as non-insulin-dependent diabetes or adult-onset diabetes. Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s is not indicated to treat diabetic ketoacidosis or type-1 diabetes mellitus.

Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s is a combination of two drugs, namely: Saxagliptin (dipeptidyl peptidase-4 inhibitor) and Dapagliflozin (sodium-glucose cotransporter-2 inhibitors). Saxagliptin enhances glucose-mediated insulin secretion, thereby reduces fasting and post-prandial blood sugar concentrations. Dapagliflozin removes excess sugar from the body via urine. Together, Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s helps treat type-2 diabetes mellitus.

Take Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s as prescribed. Swallow Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, break, or crush the tablet. You are advised to take Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as urinary tract infection, hypoglycaemia, upper respiratory tract infection, and dyslipidaemia. You are advised to consult your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Avoid taking Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s is not recommended for children below 18years as the safety and effectiveness have not been established.  Avoid alcohol consumption while taking Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s as it might cause unpleasant side-effects. Inform your doctor about all the medicines you are taking and your health condition to rule out any unpleasant side effects/interactions.

Type-2 diabetes mellitus

Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s is a combination of two drugs, namely: Saxagliptin and Dapagliflozin. Take Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s with or after food. Swallow Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s as a whole with a glass of water; do not break, chew or crush the tablet. Your doctor will advise for how long you need to take Qtern 5MG/10MG Tablet 14’s based on your medical condition.

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight

 

• Urinary tract infection
