Panex-CR 12.5mg

Panex-CR 12.5mg contains an antidepressant medicine called paroxetine which belongs to a group of medicines called selective serotonin re-uptake inhibitors. It used in adults to treat depressive and anxiety disorders like major depression, obsessive compulsive disorder, panic disorder, social anxiety disorders, anxiety after traumatic experience or generalized anxiety disorder.

Endogenous serotonin is responsible for stabilization of mood, feelings of well-being and happiness. It also helps with proper sleeping, eating and digestion. Lower levels of serotonin leads to depression or anxiety . Paroxetine inhibits presynaptic reuptake of serotonin and this inhibition raises the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, relieving various depressive and anxiety symptoms.

Take PANEX CR in the morning with food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. The most common side effect of taking this medicine is worsening of depression and suicidal thoughts. If this happens, contact your doctor immediately. Do not drive or use any tools or machines if your ability is affected by this medicine.

HOW Panex-CR 12.5mg WORKS

Paroxetine enhances the activity of serotonin by inhibiting serotonin re-uptake at pre-synapse by the serotonin (SERT) receptor. This inhibition raises the level of serotonin in the synaptic cleft, relieving various depressive and anxiety symptoms.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take this medicine as directed by your physician. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration depending upon your health condition. Take the medicine in the morning with food or as directed by your physician. Swallow the medicine as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine.

SERIOUS

Worsening of mood
Thoughts of harming themselves
Unusual bruising or bleeding
Difficulty in urination
Seizures (fits)
Akathisia (a feel of restlessness)
Feeling tired, weak or confused
Muscle pain
Serotonin syndrome (an allergic reactions accompanied by a red and lumpy skin rash, swelling of the eyelids, face, lips, mouth or tongue, difficulty breathing or swallowing)
Acute glaucoma (an eye disease)
Skin rash

COMMON

Nausea or vomiting
Loss of appetite
Dry mouth
Diarrhea or constipation
Weight gain

Change in sex drive or sexual function.
Insomnia (lack of sleep) or feeling sleepy

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS Panex-CR 12.5mg

Nausea or vomiting:

Try taking this medicine with, or just after, a meal and stick to simple meals. Do not eat rich or spicy food.

Constipation:

Eat fibre rich foods like fresh fruit, vegetables and cereals. Drink plenty of water. Exercise regularly.

Diarrhoea:

Drink lots of fluids to avoid dehydration. Avoid taking any other medicines for diarrhoea without speaking to a doctor.

PANEX CR should be used with caution in pregnant women. Consult your doctor for advice.

BREASTFEEDING

PANEX CR should be used with caution in breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor for advice.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or use any tools or machines if your ability is affected by this medicine.

ALCOHOL

Do not drink alcohol while you are taking paroxetine, as it may make your symptoms worse.

KIDNEY

PANEX CR should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

PANEX CR should be taken with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to paroxetine.

OTHERS Panex-CR 12.5mg

Talk to your doctor before taking this medicine, if you:

Have epilepsy, have ever had episodes of mania, a history of bleeding disorders, glaucoma or diabetes

Medicines used to treat migraine (sumatriptan)
Medicines used to treat epilepsy (phenytoin or carbamazepine)
Medicines used to treat an irregular heartbeat (propafenone, flecainide)
Combination of fosamprenavir and ritonavir (used to treat HIV infection)
St. John’s Wort (a herbal remedy for depression)
Atomoxetine (used to treat attention deficit hyperactivity disorder)
Procyclidine (used to relieve tremor)
