About Omnicef 1gm Injection
OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM belongs to a group of antibiotics known as third-generation cephalosporin. It is a broad-spectrum antibiotic that works against various types of bacteria. OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM generally prescribed for the lower respiratory tract, genito-urinary tract, central nervous system, intra-abdominal infections, bone and joint infections, skin infections, gynecologic infections, and septicemia. It is stable against the action of most β-lactamases. OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM is active against numerous gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including several with resistance to other antibiotics such as penicillin.
Harmful & infectious bacteria can reproduce quickly in your body. These harmful bacteria produce chemicals known as toxins, which can damage tissue and make you sick. OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM act by destroying the outer protein layer thereby killing the bacteria (bactericidal). OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM does not work against infections caused by viruses including cold and flu.

Drug Warnings

Do not take OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM if you have an allergy to OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM, cephalosporins penicillin class of antibiotics as it may cause a skin rash, itching, and difficulty in breathing. People having liver disease or jaundice (yellowing of skin/eye) should not take OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM, as it can damage your liver severely. You may have diarrhea in some cases which can be managed by taking it with any probiotics and plenty of fluids.
Drug Interactions
Drug-Drug Interaction: OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM may enhance the nephrotoxic effect of aminoglycosides (amikacin).
Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid taking eating high-fat meals as this makes it harder for your body to absorb OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM.
Drug-Disease Interaction: People affected with colitis (bowel disease that affects the large intestine, causing irritation, inflammation, and ulcers in the colon), liver disease (like jaundice), renal dysfunction, dialysis, glandular fever (viral infection with fever and sore throat), seizure disorders should not take OMNICEF INJECTION 1GM.
