Olmetor 20 Tablet (Olmesartan Medoxomil 20mg)

Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s belongs to a group of medications called ‘anti-hypertensives’ primarily used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension). High blood pressure is a chronic (long-term) condition in which blood pressure is elevated persistently in higher than normal levels. If left untreated, this condition can increase the risk of heart-related diseases like heart attack, heart failure, stroke, irregular heartbeat and other complications.

Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s contains ‘Olmesartan medoxomil’ which is a prodrug and is hydrolyzed to olmesartan during absorption from the gastrointestinal tract. It is an angiotensin-II receptor blocker (ARB) which narrows the blood vessels increasing the blood pressure, therefore blocking angiotensin can result in widening of the narrowed blood vessels. This effect allows the blood to flow more smoothly in the blood vessels.

Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s is available in the form of a tablet. The dose and duration of the medicine are determined by the doctor. Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew, or break it. The common side-effects of Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s are dizziness, headache, feeling sick (nausea), indigestion, diarrhoea, stomach ache, tiredness, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, cough, pain particularly in the back, bones or joints, infection of the urinary tract, blood in the urine and swelling of ankles, feet, legs, hands or arms. Consult your doctor immediately if you experience severe diarrhoea, considerable weight loss or any other unwanted effects.

Do not take Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s if you are allergic to ‘olmesartan medoximil’ or any ingredients present in it. Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s should not be used in pregnant women, patients suffering from jaundice (yellowing of the skin and eyes) or gallbladder blockage, patients having diabetes or kidney failure and using blood pressure-lowering medicine containing aliskiren. Inform your doctor if you are taking potassium supplements or any other prescription or non-prescription drugs.

Hypertension (high blood pressure)

This effect allows the blood to flow more smoothly in the blood vessels and thus lowering blood pressure.

Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s is available only in the tablet dosage form. Tablet: The dose and duration of the medicine are determined by the doctor. Swallow the tablet as a whole with a glass of water. Do not crush, chew or break it. Take the medication at a fixed time every day for better results.

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight

Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s may cause side-effects such as dizziness, headache, feeling sick (nausea), indigestion, diarrhea, stomach ache, tiredness, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, bronchitis, flu-like symptoms, cough, pain particularly in the back, bones, or joints, infection of the urinary tract, blood in the urine and swelling of ankles, feet, legs, hands, or arms. Olmetor 20 Tablet 10’s may also increase fat levels (hypertriglyceridemia), uric acid levels (hyperuricemia) and urea in the blood and also increase in tests of liver and muscle function. These effects can be seen when blood tests are performed. Consult your doctor if these side-effects persist or worsen.
