Ocabile 10 tablet is used to treat a liver disease that gradually destroys the bile ducts in the liver. It contains obeticholic acid as the active substance that works by reducing the production of a substance called bile. Ocabile 10 tablet is to be used in adults only. This medicine should be used exactly as recommended by your doctor. Do not take this medicine on your own.

Uses of Ocabile 10 MG

Ocabile 10 tablet is used for the treatment of a liver disease called primary biliary cirrhosis in adults.

Contraindications of Ocabile 10 MG

If you are allergic to obeticholic acid or any other ingredient of Ocabile 10 tablet.
If you have complete blockage of the bile ducts in your liver or gallbladder.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
You develop symptoms like weakness, yellowing of skin and eyes, abdominal pain and swelling, nausea, vomiting, swelling in the legs and ankles after taking this medicine.
You experience excessive itching after taking this medicine.

How Does It Work?
Ocabile 10 tablet works by attaching to certain proteins in the liver and gut that control the production of a substance called bile. This reduces the production of bile in the liver and prevents it from building up and damaging the liver tissue.

Directions for Use of Ocabile 10 MG

Take this medicine as a whole with sufficient water.
Always take this medicine exactly as prescribed by your doctor.
Do not consume more than the prescribed dose.
Do not discontinue the medicine on your own without consulting your doctor.

Interactions of Ocabile 10 MG

Interactions with other medicines
Some medicines can affect the way Ocabile 10 tablet works or Ocabile 10 tablet itself can reduce the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Tell your doctor about all medicines, supplements or herbals you are currently taking or might take to avoid any possible interaction.
The use of Ocabile 10 tablet with bile acid binding resins (cholestyramine, colestipol, colesevelam) may reduce the effectiveness of Ocabile 10 tablet.
Particular care should be taken if you are using medicines to treat asthma/chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder (theophylline), muscle cramps (tizanidine), blood clots (warfarin).

Dosage of Ocabile 10 MG

Overdose
The symptoms of overdose of Ocabile 10 tablet are itching, swelling of belly due to fluid build-up and jaundice. If you think you have taken too much of this medicine, contact your doctor immediately or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you missed any dose of the medicine, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s time for your next dose, then skip the missed dose and continue with your regular dosing schedule. Do not take a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
