Medical Description

Nupenta-DSR capsule contains pantoprazole and domperidone, an anti-reflux medicine. It relieves symptoms of Gastroesophageal reflux disorder (GERD) and peptic ulcers like heartburn, indigestion and chest discomfort by neutralizing acid in the stomach. It must be taken before meals. Before using the medicine, inform the doctor if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy or are breastfeeding and about the detailed medical history.

Uses of Nupenta Dsr Strip Of 10 Capsules

Nupenta-DSR capsule is used to treat gastrointestinal reflux disease, not responding to pantoprazole alone. This condition leads to acid regurgitating from the stomach into the food pipe, causing heartburn, chest discomfort or acidity.

Contraindications of Nupenta Dsr Strip Of 10 Capsules

If you are allergic to pantoprazole or domperidone or other ingredients of the Nupenta-DSR capsule.
If you using medicine containing Rilpivirine.
If you have stomach or intestinal bleeding or obstruction.
If you suffer from liver or kidney disorder.
If you have a tumour of the pituitary gland (prolactin pituitary tumours).
If you have heart problems like congestive heart failure, heart rhythm problems or electrolyte imbalance.

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
You develop watery diarrhoea or fever after taking the medicine.
You develop black tarry stools and abdominal pain after taking the medicine.
You have a stomach tumour or cancer.
You have kidney, liver-related disorders, heart disease.
You have or had a fracture or have brittle or weak bones (Osteoporosis).
You are using steroids or HIV medicines or anti-infective medicine.
You develop a skin reaction.
You are using the medicine for a long time. The blood magnesium levels may drop.
You are using other medications.
Long term use of the medicine for more than 3 years results in vitamin B12 deficiency.
Taking the medicine for more than one year may increase the chances of developing bone fractures.

Mode of Action of Nupenta Dsr Strip Of 10 Capsules

How Does It Work?
A pump called the proton pump in the stomach is responsible for the secretion of stomach acids.
Pantoprazole binds to the proton pump in stomach cells and blocks acid secretion.
Domperidone increases the motility of the stomach, intestines so that acid does not reflux back into the food pipe.

Directions for Use of Nupenta Dsr Strip Of 10 Capsules

Nupenta-DSR capsule should be taken as directed by your doctor. Swallow as a whole with a sufficient amount of water, in the morning before food. Do not cut, break or chew the medicine. It would be best if you took it at a fixed time for optimal results and should not consume it more than that prescribed by your doctor.

Interactions of Nupenta Dsr Strip Of 10 Capsules

Interactions with other medicines
Some medicine alters the way the Nupenta-DSR capsule works or the medicine itself reduces the effectiveness of other medicines taken at the same time.
Inform the physician regarding the medicines, supplements or herbals you take or might take to avoid possible interaction.
Medicines whose activity is dependent on the pH of stomach acid may not work when taken along with Nupenta-DSR capsule (some antifungals like ketoconazole, itraconazole, posaconazole, ampicillin, iron salts and other medicines like erlotinib).
Blood thinners like warfarin, when taken concomitantly with Nupenta-DSR capsule increases the risk of bleeding.
Other medicines like medicines used for heart conditions, anti-HIV medicines, certain antibiotics, antimalarials, medicines acting on the brain or used for brain-related disorders must be used cautiously.

Dosage of Nupenta Dsr Strip Of 10 Capsules

Overdose
An overdose of the medicine may cause sleepiness, abnormal muscle movements, fits, aggressive behaviour, altered consciousness, drowsiness, slurred speech and feeling anxiety. If you have taken too much of the medicine, contact the doctor or visit the nearest hospital.
Missed a Dose
If you have missed taking a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If it’s time for the next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with the regular dosing schedule. Avoid taking a double dose to compensate for the missed one.
