Nummit Spray (Lidocaine 15%)

Description

Nummit 15 % Spray is a local anesthetic. It is used to produce a temporary loss of sensation before the insertion of medical instruments and catheters for the medical examination of the nose, throat, stomach, or lungs. It may also be used to prevent pain and discomfort before minor non-invasive procedures in the nose and throat or minor dental procedures. It is also used after childbirth to help relieve pain and soreness in the vaginal area.

Nummit 15 % Spray may show some side effects like sore throat or hoarseness of voice if used in the mouth and throat. Also, consult your doctor if numbness and/or local irritation persist at the site of application.

Nummit 15 % Spray is usually given by your doctor or dentist in a hospital or clinical setting. The dose will depend on the intended use. If your doctor prescribes this medicine for use at home, use it as recommended. Avoid using more than the recommended dose or for a longer duration.

Nummit 15 % Spray is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have injury/cuts/sores/bleeding in your mouth or any area where you may apply it. Consult your doctor if you have seizures (fits), methaemoglobinaemia (a blood disorder), or heart, liver, or kidney problems. Also, inform your doctor about all your current medications to avoid undesired effects.

Nummit 15 % Spray should be used with caution in children below 18 years of age and the elderly. Consult your doctor if you are pregnant or are breastfeeding.

When not to use?

Allergy
Nummit 15 % Spray is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Serious allergic reactions to this medicine are rare. However, contact your doctor immediately if you experience symptoms like rashes, itching/swelling (particularly of your face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.

Other medicines
Nummit 15 % Spray may interact with other medicines and cause severe side effects. Hence, inform your doctor about all your current medicines, including any herbs and supplements.
Eye/Ear irritation
This medicine should not be applied to the eyes, ears, or cracked skin surface. Wash immediately with water in case of accidental contact.
Irritation and redness
If you develop skin redness and irritation after using this medicine, discontinue its use immediately. If the symptoms persist for more than 7 days, consult your doctor for further treatment.
Methemoglobinaemia
Nummit 15 % Spray should be used with extreme caution as it may increase the risk of methemoglobinaemia (a condition where the oxygen-carrying capacity of blood is reduced). Appropriate corrective measures, dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on your clinical condition.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Nummit 15 % Spray is used as and when required, so the chances of missing a dose are less likely. However, if you are on a scheduled dosage regimen, apply the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for the next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
As Nummit 15 % Spray is meant for external use, the likelihood of severe side effects due to an overdose is low. However, do not use more than the prescribed dose.

Caution is advised as it can cause numbness, which may make you accidentally bite your tongue or the inside of the mouth.
