Nefosar 30mg Tablet (Nefopam 30mg)

INTRODUCTION

NEFOSAR 30MG contains Nefopam which belong to a group of medicines called analgesics, commonly known as pain killers or pain relievers, interrupts the pain messages being sent to your brain and it also acts in your brain to stop pain messages being felt. It is used to relieve acute and chronic pain (for example, pain after an operation, dental pain, joint or muscle pain, after an injury, or pain caused by cancer).

Nefopam is a potent and rapidly-acting analgesic which does not inhibit PG synthesis but relieves traumatic, postoperative and short lasting musculoskeletal pain. It can be used if pain is persistent and is not adequately relieved by other analgesics. Nefopam inhibits the tone of serotonergic and noradrenergic/norepinephrinergic descending pathways by inhibiting the synaptic uptake of dopamine, noradrenaline/norepinephrine and serotonin.

Always take NEFOSAR 30MG exactly as directed by your doctor. Before taking this medicine, tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding. It is not suitable for use in children and adolescents below 12 years of age. The common side effects are nausea, dizziness and dry mouth.

NEFOSAR 30MG blocks pain messages sent to your brain or stops your brain from noticing the pain messages.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take NEFOSAR 30MG exactly as your doctor has told you. Swallow the medicine whole, with water and take each day at about the same time.

SIDE EFFECTS OF NEFOSAR 30MG

SERIOUS
Swelling of skin and soft tissue around the eyes
Nose and throat (angioedema)
Allergic reactions (anaphylaxis)
COMMON
Nausea
Feeling light-headed, dizzy or nervous, or fainting
Decrease in blood pressure
Numbness or tingling in the extremities
Dry mouth
Difficulty passing urine
Convulsions, tremor
Confusion
Hallucinations

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Nausea:

Stick to regular meals and do not eat rich or spicy foods.

Dizziness:

Get up and move around to feel awake, take small naps to edge off the sleepiness.

Dry mouth:

Chew sugar-free gum or candies to stimulate the flow of saliva and limit your caffeine intake.

PREGNANCY
NEFOSAR 30MG is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless necessary. Consult your doctor for advice.

BREASTFEEDING
NEFOSAR 30MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Consult your doctor for advice.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machines if you feel drowsy while taking this medicine.

KIDNEY
NEFOSAR 30MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from active kidney diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
NEFOSAR 30MG should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver function impairment or active liver diseases. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Nefopam.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor if you have or had,

Epilepsy (fits)
Difficulty passing urine
Glaucoma (increased pressure in the eye)

INTERACTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

Monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), tricyclic antidepressants (used to treat depression)
Anticholinergics
Sympathomimetics
