Minoz OD 100 Capsule (Minocycline 100mg)

INTRODUCTION

MINOZ OD 100MG contains Minocycline belongs to a tetracycline group of antibiotics. It can be used to treat the variety of infections, including bacterial infections that affect the eyes, ears, nose, throat and respiratory system (chest infections), gonorrhoea or pelvic, prostate and urinary tract infections. It has anti-inflammatory property which is also effective against bacteria causing acne. This medicine can also be given to prevent pre- and post-operative infections.

Always take MINOZ OD 100MG as directed by physician. Your doctor will decide the dose and duration of therapy depending upon your age, weight and condition. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. It is not recommended for the use in children and adolescents under 18 years. Do not take this medicine, if you have a condition called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). It is not recommended for use in pregnant or breastfeeding women. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine. Tell your doctor, if you are taking or taken or might take any other medicines. The most common side effects include vomiting, dizziness or nausea.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Always take MINOZ OD 100MG exactly as prescribed by your doctor. Swallow the medicine whole with plenty of water. If you take more than prescribed, talk to your doctor. The signs of overdose can include vomiting, dizziness or nausea.

Painful purple lumps on the skin (erythema nodosum)
Patches of darker skin colour
Yellowing of the skin or whites of eyes, dark urine, pale stools, loss of appetite and stomach pain
Pain and inflammation, stiffness or swelling of the joints with fever, muscle pain, inflammation of the liver (hepatitis), rash or inflammation of blood vessels
Shortness of breath during exercise, fatigue, chest pain

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Skin itching:

Avoid bath in hot water because hot water can irritate the skin. Moisturizers can be used regular basis to soothe and hydrate the affected area.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES
Do not drive or operate any machinery while taking this medicine, it may make you feel dizziness, headaches, a spinning sensation when standing still (vertigo), light-headedness, problems.

ALCOHOL
Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with MINOZ OD 100MG.

KIDNEY
MINOZ OD 100MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER
MINOZ OD 100MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe liver disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

ALLERGY
Do not take if you are allergic to this medicine.

HEART DISEASE
If you have any heart related problems, consult your doctor for advice before taking this medicine.

OTHERS

Do not take MINOZ OD 100MG if you:

Suffer from myasthenia gravis (a disease caused by muscle weakness)
Have a condition called systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE)

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor if you are taking:

Hepatotoxic medicine
Anticoagulants to thin the blood e.g. warfarin
Antacids, used for indigestion
Sucralfate, bismuth salts
Other medicines containing zinc salts, iron, calcium, aluminium or magnesium
Kaolin, a medicine used to treat diarrhea
Quinapril an ACE inhibitor
A penicillin antibiotic
Diuretics (‘water’ tablets)
Retinoids such as isotretinoid or retinol
Ergotamine, a medicine used to treat migraines
Ergometrine used to induce abortion or labour
