Grandem 1 Tablet is an antiemetic drug used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by chemotherapy, radiation therapy. It may also be used for the treatment and prevention of nausea and vomiting associated with surgeries. This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 2 years of age.

What is it prescribed for?
Chemotherapy or Radiation therapy induced nausea and vomiting
This medicine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with chemotherapy or radiation therapy.
Post operative nausea and vomiting
This medicine may also be used to prevent nausea and vomiting associated with surgeries.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to granisetron or any other inactive ingredients present in the formulation.

Pregnancy
This medicine is not recommended for use in pregnant women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine.
Breast-feeding
This medicine is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless absolutely necessary. All the risks and benefits should be discussed with the doctor before taking this medicine. General warnings
Serotonin Syndrome
This medicine should be used with caution due to the increased risk of serotonin syndrome. This risk is especially higher in patients receiving serotogenic drugs. Report any symptoms such as dizziness, increased heart rate, changes in blood pressure, flushing, vomiting, nausea, diarrhea, etc. to the doctor immediately. Appropriate corrective measures or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Other medicines
This medicine may interact with many other medicines and may cause severe adverse effects. Hence, it is advised that you inform the doctor about all your current medicines including any herbs and supplements before beginning treatment with this medicine.
Liver disease
This medicine should be used with caution in patients suffering from liver diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of liver function tests is necessary while receiving this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.
QT Prolongation
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with prolonged QT due to the increased risk of worsening of the patient’s condition. Regular monitoring of electrolyte levels and kidney function tests are necessary while taking this medicine. Appropriate dose adjustments or replacement with a suitable alternative may be required in some cases based on the clinical condition.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost the time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

General Instructions

Take this medicine exactly as directed by the doctor. Do not take in larger amounts than advised/prescribed. Consult the doctor if you experience any undesirable effects. Do not stop taking the medicine before completion of the course/without consulting your doctor.
