Fucidin ointment contains fusidic acid as its active medicine. It helps to treat infections caused by certain bacteria on the skin. Fucidin ointment is used for external application only and should be used only if prescribed by the doctor. It is not effective against fungal skin diseases. It should not be used in children below 1 year of age. There are few common side effects associated with this ointment are itching, dryness, redness or burning sensation at the site of application. Do not use this medicine in larger amounts or for longer than recommended.

Uses of Fucidin 2 %

Fucidin ointment is indicated for symptomatic relief in various skin conditions like eczema, dermatitis, impetigo.
It is also helpful in treating bacterial infections of the nails, cuts, grazes and spots.

Contraindications of Fucidin 2 %

If you had a previous allergic reaction to the application of Fucidin ointment.

Irritation, pain, redness, stinging or burning sensations at the site of application
Itching
Rashes and hives
Swelling of the skin
Blistering

Other General Warnings

Talk to your doctor if
Apply the ointment carefully while using it on your face or near your eyes.
Use the ointment only for the prescribed duration.
Do not continue using Fucidin ointment for a long time.
Avoid smoking and go near naked flames, as there are chances of severe burns.
Prolonged use can lead to thinning of skin and skin damage.
Avoid using it for more than 2 weeks, if your skin condition is not improving see your doctor.

Directions for Use of Fucidin 2 %

Before applying Fucidin ointment, make sure your hands are washed clean.
Take a little bit of the ointment on your clean hand and apply it to the affected area gently. Spread the ointment all over the area evenly in a thin layer.

Dosage of Fucidin 2 %

Overdose
An excess application of Fucidin ointment at one time may not harm you as such. In case you swallow the ointment, please consult the doctor. If you observe any symptoms, please report to the hospital immediately.
Missed a Dose
A missed dose should be applied as soon as you remember. Please do not apply extra Fucidin ointment to compensate for the missed application.
