INTRODUCTION
FORXIGA 5MG contains Dapagliflozin which belongs to the group of medicines called Antidiabetics. It is used to treat type 2 diabetes when cannot be controlled with diet and exercise (in adults and children aged 10 years and above), heart failure (condition in which the heart is unable to pump an adequate supply of blood to the body) and chronic kidney disease (condition in which the kidneys are damaged and cannot filter blood properly) in adults. Type 2 diabetes is a chronic or life-long condition in which cells of the body fail to respond to insulin and in later stages, the body even fails to produce enough amount of insulin. Symptoms include excessive urination, excessive thirst, hunger, fatigue, and blurred vision.
Dapagliflozin works by blocking the SGLT2 (sodium-glucose co-transporter-2) protein in kidney causing elimination of blood sugar (glucose), salt (sodium) and water in the form of urine. These effects on the kidneys may also help improve your heart’s ability to pump blood to the body and thus reduces the risk of cardiovascular diseases. Your doctor may recommend you to follow diet and exercise better results while taking FORXIGA 5MG.
