Falcigo Plus Tablet (Artesunate 100mg / Mefloquine 200mg)

Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s belongs to a group of anti-malarial drugs used to treat multidrug-resistant falciparum malaria. Malaria is a mosquito-borne disease caused by the female anopheles mosquito. Malaria is transmitted through the bite of infected mosquitoes, which carry the Plasmodium parasite. The symptoms usually develop within 10days to 4weeks after the infection.

Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s is a combination of two drugs, namely: Artesunate and Mefloquine. Artesunate generates free radicals, inhibiting nucleic acid and protein synthesis of the Plasmodium parasites during erythrocytic stages. Mefloquine binds to haem and forms a complex which is toxic to the malarial parasite. Together, Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s helps in treating malaria.

Take Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s with food. Swallow Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew or break the tablet. You are advised to take Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side effects such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, abdominal pain, headache, diarrhea, and fatigue. Most of these side effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side effects persistently.

Consult your doctor before taking Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s if you are pregnant. Avoid breastfeeding while taking Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s. Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s may cause dizziness and vertigo, so drive only if you are alert. Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s can be given to children aged 7years and above if prescribed by the doctor. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Falcigo Plus Tablet 6’s as it could lead to increased dizziness.
