About Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s

Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s belongs to a group of combination medication called gastrointestinal agents used to treat gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GERD). Gastroesophageal reflux disease occurs when stomach acid frequently flows back into the food pipe (oesophagus), thereby causing hyperacidity, stomach pain and heartburn.

Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s is a combination of two drugs: Levosulpiride (prokinetic agent) and Rabeprazole (proton pump inhibitor). Levosulpiride works by increasing the inferior oesophageal (food pipe) sphincter pressure, thereby preventing backflow of food and acid into the mouth. Rabeprazole works by blocking the action of an enzyme called gastric proton pump, which is responsible for acid production. Together, Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s helps in preventing acid reflux, thereby provides relief from acidity and heartburn.

Take Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s 1-hour prior food. Swallow Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or break it. You are advised to take Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you depending on your medical condition. In some cases, you may experience certain common side-effects such as nausea, stomach pain, diarrhoea, flatulence, constipation, headache, dizziness, weakness, sleepiness, flu-like symptoms. Most of these side-effects do not require medical attention and will resolve gradually over time. However, you are advised to talk to your doctor if you experience these side-effects persistently.

Inform your doctor before taking Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s if you have a history of gastrointestinal bleeding or intestinal obstruction. On long term treatment, Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may cause osteoporosis-related fractures of the hip, wrist, spine, and hypomagnesemia (low magnesium levels). Do not take Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s should not be given to children as safety have not been established. Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may cause drowsiness and dizziness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol and Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s as it could lead to increased drowsiness and elevate stomach acid production.

Drug Warnings

Do not take Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s if you are allergic to any of its contents, have a gastrointestinal hemorrhage, epilepsy, mania, porphyria or cardiac impairment. Inform your doctor before taking Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s if you have stomach pain, indigestion, vomiting food or blood, or if you pass black stools,  have severe liver or kidney problems, if you are due to have Chromogranin A test. Do not take Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s if you are pregnant or breastfeeding unless prescribed by the doctor. Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s should not be given to children as safety have not been established. On long-term treatment, Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may cause low magnesium levels, vitamin B12 levels and increase the risk of bone fractures; the doctor may advise regular tests for monitoring your condition. Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may cause dizziness and drowsiness, so drive only if you are alert. Avoid consuming alcohol along with Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s as it could lead to increased drowsiness and can elevate the production of stomach acid. Keep your doctor informed about your health condition and medicines to rule out any side-effects.

Drug Interactions

Drug-Drug Interactions: Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may have interaction with painkillers (aspirin, naproxen), anti-HIV (atazanavir, nelfinavir, saquinavir), anti-cancer (erlotinib, methotrexate), blood thinner (clopidogrel, warfarin, cilostazol), anti-fungal (ketoconazole, itraconazole, voriconazole), antiparkinsons (levodopa), antihypertensive (captopril, enalapril, lisinopril) anti-depressant (citalopram, amitriptyline, imipramine, clomipramine, duloxetine), anti-anxiety (diazepam, alprazolam), anti-convulsant (phenytoin), gastroprokinetic agent (cisapride), a drug used to treat heart problems (digoxin), immunosuppressant (tacrolimus), anti-tuberculosis (rifampicin), antibiotics (clarithromycin, amoxicillin).

Food-Drug Interactions: Avoid smoking and alcohol consumption. Alcohol intake leads to increased production of stomach acid, thereby increases acidity and heartburn. Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may have interaction with St.John’s wort (herbal supplement used to treat depression). 

Drug-Disease Interaction: Cyra-LS Tablet 10’s may have interactions with gastrointestinal bleeding, intestinal obstruction, pheochromocytoma (tumour of the adrenal gland), epilepsy, mania, Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhoea (CDAD), liver disease, bone fractures, hypomagnesemia (low levels of magnesium).
