Covifor 100mg Injection (Remdesivir 100mg)

INTRODUCTION

COVIFOR 100MG contains Remdesivir which belongs to a group of medicines called antiviral agents. It is indicated for treatment of suspected or laboratory confirmed coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID19) in adults and children hospitalized with severe disease. Severe disease is defined as patients with oxygen saturation (SpO2 ) ≤94% on room air or requiring supplemental oxygen or requiring mechanical ventilation or requiring extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) is a highly infectious disease which caused by a strain of a virus called coronavirus. The common symptoms are fever, cough, loss of taste or smell, breathing difficulty, nasal congestion and diarrhea.

Remdesivir is a nucleotide analog with broad spectrum antiviral activity is approved by food and drug administration (FDA) as an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for emergency use for the treatment of hospitalized 2019 coronavirus disease (COVID-19). It may have a potential activity against COVID-19 on basis of the in vitro and in vivo activity in animal models against the viral pathogens MERS and SARS, which are structurally similar to COVID-19. Metabolism of remdesivir to remdesivir triphosphate has been demonstrated in multiple cell types which acts as an analog of adenosine triphosphate (ATP) and competes with the natural ATP substrate for incorporation into nascent RNA chains by the SARS-CoV-2 RNA-dependent RNA polymerase, which results in delayed chain termination during replication of the viral RNA. By blocking the replication it attacks the virus once it is already spreading inside the body.

COVIFOR 100MG will be administered by your doctor or nurse. Before receiving, tell your physician if you have liver, kidney or heart problems or pregnant women or breastfeeding mother. Your doctor will administer the right dose depends on your child’s age and body weight. The common side effects are nausea and increase in liver enzymes.

HOW COVIFOR 100MG WORKS

When virus enters a cell, it releases genetic code converts to proteins and these make copies and viral parts get assembled. Remdesivir blocks the replication and works by attacking the virus once it is already spreading inside the body.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

COVIFOR 100MG will be administered by your doctor or nurse through vein (intravenously) one time each day. It helps to decrease the amount of the coronavirus in your body.

Indigestion:

Stick to simple regular meals and do not eat spicy foods.

WARNING & PRECAUTIONS

Tell your doctor if you are taking,

• Chloroquine phosphate or hydroxychloroquine (treats malaria)
• Rifampicin, rifapentine (treats bacterial infection)
• Carbamazepine, phenobarbital (phenobarbitone), phenytoin, primidone (treats epilepsy)
• St. John’s wort (herbal medicine, treats depression)
