Description

Cefadrox-CV Tablet is a combination medicine used to treat a variety of conditions such as upper and lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, uncomplicated skin infections, etc. caused by bacteria. This medicine is not recommended for use in children less than 6 years of age.

Uses of Cefadrox-CV Tablet

What is it prescribed for?
Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis
This medicine is used in the treatment of tonsillitis and pharyngitis caused by Streptococcus pneumoniae or Haemophilus influenzae.
Urinary Tract Infection
This medicine is used in the treatment of urinary tract infections caused by Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, etc.
Skin and Skin Structure Infection
This medicine is used in the treatment of uncomplicated infections of the skin and skin structures caused by bacteria. These infections may include infected wounds, folliculitis, abscesses, cellulitis, ulcers, etc.
Bronchopneumonia
This medicine is used in the treatment of bronchopneumonia, which is an infection of the bronchi or bronchioles.
Impetigo
This medicine is used in the treatment of impetigo which is a highly contagious skin infection caused by Streptococcus or Staphylococcus organisms.

When not to use?

Allergy
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients with a known allergy to cefadroxil, other beta-lactam antibiotics, clavulanic acid derivatives, or any other inactive ingredients present along with these medicines.

General warnings

Clostridium difficile-associated Diarrhea
Antibiotic therapy will cause an imbalance in the normal microbial flora of the large intestine, which may promote the growth of bacteria called Clostridium difficile and you may experience severe diarrhea as a result. Report any such incidence to the doctor on priority and avoid usage of this medicine in such cases.
Impaired kidney function
This medicine should be used with extreme caution in patients with pre-existing kidney diseases due to the increased risk of severe adverse effects. Close monitoring of kidney function, appropriate dose adjustments, or replacement with a suitable alternative may be necessary based on the clinical condition of the patient.
Drug-resistance
Usage of this medicine without sufficient proof or suspicion of a bacterial infection should be avoided. Irrational dosing might fail in providing the benefits and even cause toxicity. It may also increase the risk of development of bacteria that are drug resistant.
Use in pediatrics
This medicine is not recommended for use in patients less than 6 years of age due to the increased risk of serious adverse effects.

Dosage

Missed Dose
Take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Seek emergency medical treatment or contact the doctor in case of an overdose.

Take this medicine exactly as prescribed by the doctor. Do not take in larger or smaller quantities than recommended. This medicine can be taken with or without food. Ensure that the treatment course is completed. Do not stop the use of this medicine without consulting your doctor.
