What is CAL 360MG?

CAL 360 tablet is used to prevent or treat low blood calcium levels, treats vitamin D and calcium deficiencies in osteoporosis or osteomalacia such as bone loss (osteoporosis), weak bones (osteomalacia/rickets), postmenopausal osteoporosis and hyperphosphatemia.

Calcium is essential for proper functioning of nerve, muscles, cells and bone. Due to calcium deficiency, the body will take calcium from bones, thereby weakening bones. Hence intake of calcium is necessary to prevent this calcium depletion, maintain bone mass, and prevent and treat osteoporosis. Vitamin D3 increases the absorption of calcium and phosphorous from the intestine. It is crucial for bone strength and lack of vitamin D may lead to fractures, muscle pain, weakness.

• Calcium citrate malate
• Cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3)

Side effects of CAL 360 tablet:

Common:

• constipation
• stomach upset

Uncommon:

• nausea/vomiting, loss of appetite
• unusual weight loss, mental/mood changes, change in the amount of urine, bone/muscle pain, headache
• increased thirst, increased urination, weakness, swelling or tingling in mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing, tiredness and fast/pounding heartbeat

Rare:

• rash
• itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat)
• severe dizziness

How to manage side effects:

Constipation:

Drink two to four extra glasses of water a day. Eat fruits, vegetables whole grains and other high-fiber foods to your diet.

Stomach upset:

Drink clear or ice-cold drinks. Eat light, bland foods (such as saltine crackers or plain bread). Avoid fried, greasy, or sweet foods.

Safety Advice:

• Take CAL 360 tablet twice daily every week or as directed by the doctor.
• Do not take, if you are allergic to any of the ingredients of this tablet.
• It is considered safe for use by pregnant and breastfeeding women. It is advised to consult your doctor before taking.
• Tell your doctor if you have conditions such as hypercalcaemia, hypercalciuria or hypophosphatemia, nephrolithiasis, malabsorption syndrome, hypervitaminosis D and diseases and/or conditions (such as prolonged immobilization) associated with hypercalcaemia and/or hypercalciuria, severe renal impairment, renal osteodystrophy with hyperphosphataemia (risk of metastatic calcification and thyroid problem).
