Description

Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is an antibiotic containing Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid. This antibiotic is given as an injection to treat different types of bacterial infections of the throat, lungs, ears, nose, urinary tract, and skin. Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is also used with other medications to kill Helicobacter pylori bacteria that cause stomach ulcers. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses or fungus.

Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection use may lead to side effects like diarrhoea, skin rash, pain at the injection site, headache, weakness, and dizziness. Consult your doctor if any of these side effects persist or worsen. Inform your doctor if you are allergic to penicillin or any other antibiotic. Avoid driving vehicles or operating machines if you feel dizzy or sleepy after receiving this medicine.

Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is injected into a muscle or into a vein. Your doctor will determine how often the injections should be given based on the severity and location of the infection. Once an antibiotic is started, it is always recommended to finish the entire course of treatment.

Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection can be given to both adults and children, but only by a healthcare professional in a hospital setting. Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is given only when taking the antibiotic orally is not possible or the infection is severe. Sometimes, this medicine may be followed by oral form (tablets or capsules) of this antibiotic when recovery is seen by an injection.

Sinusitis

You may experience a stuffed nose and pain or pressure behind your eyes, nose, cheeks, or forehead. Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is used to treat bacterial sinusitis.
Lower Respiratory Tract Infection
Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is used to treat the following lung infections:
1. Pneumonia:- It is an infection of the air sacs in your lungs (either single or both lungs). It can be bacterial and viral. This medicine is used to treat pneumonia caused by bacteria.
2. Bronchitis:- It is the swelling and irritation of bronchial tubes that regulates air passage in your lungs. It is used to treat bronchitis caused by bacteria.
Acute otitis media
Acute otitis media (AOM), is an infection of your middle ear (the area behind the eardrum), common in infants and young children. Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is used to treat acute otitis media caused by bacteria.
Pharyngitis/Tonsilitis
Pharyngitis and tonsillitis are infections that cause swelling and soreness in your throat and tonsils. Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is used to treat pharyngitis, tonsillitis, and/or pharyngotonsillitis (when the infection affects both, the throat and the tonsils).
Skin Infection
Skin and soft tissue infections occur when the bacteria invade the skin and its supporting structures. Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is used to treat all skin infections including abscess caused by bacteria.
Urinary Tract Infection

Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection is used for the treatment of osteomyelitis and septic arthritis caused by bacteria.

Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection should be given by a qualified healthcare professional in the clinical or hospital setting.

Finish the prescribed course, even if you start feeling better. Stopping it early may lead to a recurrence of the infection and make it difficult to treat.

Diarrhoea may occur as a side effect. Taking probiotics (good bacteria that keep you healthy) along with Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection may help.

Talk to your doctor if you notice bloody stools or develop abdominal cramps.

Stop taking Augpen (1000/200 mg) Injection and inform your doctor immediately if you develop an itchy rash, swelling of the face, throat or tongue or breathing difficulties while taking it.
