Asthafen Tablet (Ketotifen 1mg)

ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET belongs to a class of anti-histamine or anti-allergic drugs, primarily used to treat a wide variety of allergies. It is also used to treat symptoms of asthma by decreasing inflammation in the lungs. An allergy is an immune system response to foreign elements typically not harmful to your body. These foreign elements are known as ‘allergens.’ Allergic condition varies from person to person. Some might be allergic to certain foods and seasonal allergies like hay fever. At the same time, others might be allergic to pollen or pet dander.
ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET contains Ketotifen, an anti-histamine, which is used to treat allergies. It blocks the effects of a chemical messenger known as ‘histamine,’ which is naturally involved in allergic reactions. Additionally, ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET also treats hay fever (seasonal allergic rhinitis) and reduces asthma symptoms by reducing inflammation in the lungs. So, blocking the effect of histamine ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET helps to reduce the symptoms of various allergies.
Take ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET as prescribed by your doctor. You are advised to take ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET for as long as your doctor has prescribed it for you, depending upon your medical condition. The tablet form of ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET may cause irritation, drowsiness, hyperactivity, sleep disturbances in some cases. The eye drops may cause watery eyes, running nose, eye irritation. Most of these side effects of ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. However, if the side effects are persistent, reach out to your doctor.
You should not take ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET if you are allergic to Ketotifen or have diabetes, epilepsy or glaucoma. Please mention all the other medicines you are taking to your doctor before starting ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET. ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET is not recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women as it is a pregnancy category D drug. Also, if you are using eye drops, please remove contact lenses before using ASTHAFEN 1MG TABLET.  Do not use two eye medications together; wait for at least 5 minutes before using the second medication.
