AF 150 Tablet (Fluconazole 150mg)

AF-150 Tablet 1’s belongs to the class of medicines called ‘antifungal’ used to treat a broad range of infections caused due to fungi and yeast. A fungal infection is caused when a fungus invades and affects any part of the body, including the mouth, throat, oesophagus, lungs, bladder, genital area, and the blood. AF-150 Tablet 1’s can effectively treat fungal infections, including Vaginal Candidiasis (a vaginal yeast infection caused by Candida), urinary tract infection caused by Candida species of fungi, and cryptococcal meningitis (fungal infection of the brain and spinal cord in AIDS patients). AF-150 Tablet 1’s cannot treat a viral infection like flu or a common cold.

AF-150 Tablet 1’s contains ‘fluconazole’ that kills or prevents fungi or yeast by inhibiting an enzyme in fungi responsible for its normal fat metabolism, which interferes with the formation of the fungal cell membrane. As a result, fungal or yeast cells get killed or its growth is minimized. AF-150 Tablet 1’s is available in the form of oral (tablet and suspension) and injection formulations. You should only take this drug if advised by your doctor. You can take AF-150 Tablet 1’s with or without food.

AF-150 Tablet 1’s has common side effects like headache, diarrhoea, nausea, upset in stomach, dizziness, stomach pain, altered food tastes. You seek immediate medical attention if you experience other side effects such as fever, chills, and symptoms of flu, weakness, easy bruising, seizures, skin rashes, faster or irregular heartbeat, and shortness of breath, clay-coloured stools, and jaundice.

Tell your doctor if you already consume or stopped taking other drugs since they affect AF-150 Tablet 1’s. These include over-the-counter medicines (OTC), herbal, and vitamin supplements. Let your doctor know if you use medications for other infections, heart problems, high blood pressure, HIV, mental illness, cancer, or malaria. Also, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or planning to become pregnant.

Fungal infections

AF-150 Tablet 1’s works by killing the fungus/yeast and preventing its growth by inhibiting the fungal cell membrane formation. It is used to treat various fungal or yeast infections such as vaginal candidiasis, oropharyngeal candidiasis (thrush, oral thrush), esophageal candidiasis (candida esophagitis), candida infections (urinary tract infections, peritonitis), and cryptococcal meningitis. Besides this, AF-150 Tablet 1’s is also used to prevent candidiasis and coccidioidomycosis in patients who receive cancer or radiation treatment while undergoing bone marrow transplantation. AF-150 Tablet 1’s is effective in treating soft tissue and pulmonary infections when compared to other azole anti-fungal drugs.

The usual daily adult dose of AF-150 Tablet 1’s is 50-400 mg, depending on the type of infection. It comes in oral (tablet and suspension) and intravenous formulations. For a yeast infection, your doctor may advise you to take one pill. For other infections, your first dose may be a double dose. You may take AF-150 Tablet 1’s with or without food. Shake the oral suspension well before use and always use a measuring device for intake. AF-150 Tablet 1’s injection is given into the vein as an infusion. Do not take if the medicine in the vial looks cloudy, changes colour, or consists of particles.

Store in a cool and dry place away from sunlight

Most of the side effects of AF-150 Tablet 1’s do not require medical attention and gradually resolve over time. AF-150 Tablet 1’s can cause common side effects like headache, diarrhoea, nausea, upset in stomach, dizziness, stomach pain, altered food tastes. However, seek immediate medical advice if these side effects persist longer. Some serious side effects of AF-150 Tablet 1’s include pounding or irregular heartbeat, nausea, vomiting, extreme tiredness, easy bruising or bleeding, weakness, loss of appetite, jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes), flu, dark urine, clay-coloured stools, seizures, skin rash and itching, hives, swollen face, throat, tongue, lips, eyes, hands, feet, ankles, or lower legs, and difficulty breathing or swallowing. If any of these side effects occur, call your doctor for emergency treatment.
