Lynx Injection (Lincomycin 300mg)

INTRODUCTION

LYNX contains Lincomycin which belongs to a group of medicines called Lincosamide antibiotics. It is used to treat upper, lower respiratory infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, septicemia, endocarditis and bacillary dysentery.

Lincomycin is an antibiotic produced by fermentation of Streptomyces lincolnensis which inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome. It is predominantly bacteriostatic in vitro. The antibacterial activity of lincomycin appears to best correlate with the length of time the concentration of active ingredient remains above the MIC of the infecting organism.

LYNX will be administered by your doctor or nurse. Tell your doctor if you have liver, kidney or heart problems, are pregnant or breastfeeding. Your doctor will prescribe the right dose depends on your child’s age and body weight. The common side effects are vomiting, headache, diarrhoea, stomach pain, nausea and injection site reactions.

HOW LYNX WORKS

LYNX helps stop the creation of protein by bacteria, thereby stopping growth and reducing the infection.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

LYNX will be administered by your doctor or nurse by intramuscularly or intravenously. Your doctor will give the right dose depends on your age and body weight.

SIDE EFFECTS OF LYNX

HOW TO MANAGE SIDE EFFECTS

Diarrhoea:

Drink plenty of fluids and ORS can be used to prevent dehydration.

Vomiting:

Drink clear or ice-cold drinks, eat bland foods and avoid fried or sweet foods.

Stomach pain:

Place a warm water bottle on your abdomen. Soak in a warm bath. Drink plenty of clear fluids and water.

Headache:

Rest and drink plenty of fluids. Ask your doctor to recommend a painkiller.

Nausea:

Stick to simple regular meals and do not eat spicy foods.
