INTRODUCTION

ACCUFINE 40MG contains Isotretinoin which belongs to a group of medicines known as retinoids which is used to treat skin problems. Isotretinoin used to treat severe nodular acne. It is only used in patients whose acne has not responded to other treatments. It works by shrinking the oil, sebaceous, glands in the skin. This reduces the amount of oil that is produced naturally by skin and also kills the bacteria that cause acne and relieves redness and soreness.

Severe nodular acne is the formation of red, swollen, tender lumps in the skin. If untreated it leads to permanent scars. This medicine should be used in children and adolescents from 12 years of age only after puberty. It must be used under the guidance of a dermatologist.

DIRECTIONS FOR USE

Take this medicine as directed by your physician. It can be taken with or without food. Your doctor will decide the correct dose for you depending upon your condition. Swallow this medicine as whole with a glass of water. Do not chew or suck the medicine.

ACCUFINE 40MG is not recommended for use in breastfeeding women unless necessary. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.

DRIVING AND USING MACHINES

Do not drive or operate machinery while taking this medicine, since it may cause dry eyes, sight problems, drowsiness or dizziness.

ALCOHOL

Consumption of alcohol is not recommended during treatment with ACCUFINE 40MG.

KIDNEY

ACCUFINE 40MG should be taken with caution in patients with severe kidney disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

LIVER

ACCUFINE 40MG is not recommended in patients with active liver diseases. Before taking, discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.

ALLERGY

Do not take this medicine if you are allergic (hypersensitive) to Isotretinoin.

HEART DISEASE

ACCUFINE 40MG should be taken with caution in patients with heart disease. Consult your doctor for advice.

OTHERS

Inform your doctor before taking this medicine, if you have,

Increased levels of vitamin A in body (Hypervitaminosis A)
High levels of cholesterol or triglycerides in blood
Mental health problems (depression, aggressive tendencies or mood changes)
Asthma
Wear contact lenses
Diabetes
Bone loss or weak bones
Anorexia nervosa (where people eat too little)

INTERACTIONS

Talk to your doctor, if you are taking,

Tetracyclines antibiotics
Vitamin A supplements
Progestin-only birth control pills (mini-pills)
Medicines used to prevent epilepsy or seizures (e.g. phenytoin)
Medicines used to treat mental problems (e.g. st John’s wort)
Corticosteroid medicines
