Description
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is an antibiotic used for the treatment of bacterial infections affecting your lungs, skin, and urinary tract (the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra). It works by stopping the growth of bacteria that causes infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses.
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet can cause side effects like diarrhoea, stomach pain, headache, nausea, and vomiting. Consult your doctor if these side effects persist or become worse. Avoid activities that require mental focus like driving and operating machines as this medicine may cause dizziness.

Urinary tract infection
An infection in any part of your urinary system (kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra) is called a urinary tract infection (UTI). UTIs are caused by bacteria and in some cases, viruses or fungi. Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is used to treat urinary tract infections caused by bacteria.
Pyelonephritis
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is used to treat pyelonephritis which is the swelling of the kidneys due to bacterial infection. This infection starts in your urethra or bladder and spreads through the ureters to the kidneys.
Urethritis
Urethritis is the swelling of the urethra, a small tube that carries urine from the bladder. Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is used to treat urethritis caused by bacteria.
Cystitis
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is used to treat cystitis caused by bacteria. It is a swelling of your urinary bladder usually caused by a bacterial infection. This is more common in women.
Community-acquired pneumonia

When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid using Zanocin 100 MG Tablet if you are allergic to it. If you notice any allergic reactions like redness, swelling (anywhere in your body), hives (skin rash), breathing difficulty etc., seek immediate medical attention.
Tendinitis or tendon rupture
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage especially in old age. Do not use Zanocin 100 MG Tablet if you have tendonitis (swelling of fibres that attach bone with muscles) or tendon rupture (a partial or complete tear of the tendon- the tissue that connects muscle to bone) as may worsen your condition.
Myasthenia gravis
Myasthenia gravis is a skeletal muscle weakness condition characterized by severe weakness of any of the muscles under your voluntary control like arms and legs. Zanocin 100 MG Tablet should be avoided if you have myasthenia gravis as it may worsen your condition.

Warnings for special population
Pregnancy
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is not recommended to be used in pregnancy as it may harm your foetus. Consult your doctor before taking this medicine.
Breast-feeding
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet is present in breast milk. Therefore, it is not recommended to be used while breastfeeding. Consult your doctor before taking it to know all the risks and benefits associated with this medicine.
General warnings
Muscle damage
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet can cause muscle damage usually on the tendons that surround your ankle. Inform your doctor if you feel pain, numbness, or tingling sensations in your muscles.
Antibiotic resistance
Finish your entire course of treatment with Zanocin 100 MG Tablet, even if the condition gets better after taking a few doses to avoid antibiotic resistance (the bacteria may become resistant to antibiotics). If you still feel unwell after completing your antibiotic course, consult your doctor.
Driving or operating machinery
Zanocin 100 MG Tablet may cause dizziness or sleepiness and interfere with eyesight. Hence, do not drive vehicles or operate machines after taking this medicine.
Photosensitivity

Diarrhoea

Antacids
If you are taking an antacid containing aluminium and magnesium salts for indigestion, it can increase the time takes for Zanocin 100 MG Tablet to act on your body. Hence, it is recommended to take this medicine at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking antacids.
Dosage
Missed Dose
Do not skip any dose of Zanocin 100 MG Tablet. If you forget to take a dose, take it as soon as you remember. If your next dose time is near, skip the missed dose and take your next scheduled dose. Do not double your dose to make up for the missed one.
Overdose
Never take more than the prescribed dose. Seek emergency medical attention if you suspect that you might have taken an overdose of Zanocin 100 MG Tablet.
Interactions
