Xylocaine Spray
Xylocaine 10 % Spray is a local anesthetic. It is used to produce a temporary loss of sensation before the insertion of medical instruments and catheters for the medical examination of the nose, throat, stomach, or lungs. It may also be used to prevent pain and discomfort before minor non-invasive procedures in the nose and throat or minor dental procedures. It is also used after childbirth to help relieve pain and soreness in the vaginal area.
Xylocaine 10 % Spray may show some side effects like sore throat or hoarseness of voice if used in the mouth and throat. Also, consult your doctor if numbness and/or local irritation persist at the site of application.
Xylocaine 10 % Spray is usually given by your doctor or dentist in a hospital or clinical setting. The dose will depend on the intended use. If your doctor prescribes this medicine for use at home, use it as recommended. Avoid using more than the recommended dose or for a longer duration.
Xylocaine 10 % Spray is not recommended for use if you are allergic to it. Inform your doctor if you have injury/cuts/sores/bleeding in your mouth or any area where you may apply it. Consult your doctor if you have seizures (fits), methaemoglobinaemia (a blood disorder), or heart, liver, or kidney problems. Also, inform your doctor about all your current medications to avoid undesired effects.
