Description
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is a combination medicine that consists of Rosuvastatin and Aspirin. It is used to reduce the bad cholesterol and triglyceride (type of fats) levels in your body. It also prevents the risk of heart attack and stroke (a condition that causes reduced oxygen supply to the brain). This medicine works by dissolving the blood clot and reducing the production of unwanted fats in your body.
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule has some side effects like nausea, muscle pain, weakness, headache, stomach pain and discomfort, etc. These side effects are mild and may subside by themselves. Consult your doctor if they bother you for a long time or become severe. This medicine may also increase the risk of bleeding. Do not take this medicine if you are allergic to it.
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule should be taken with food to avoid stomach irritation. Take it every day at the same time for the ease of remembering. Never take more than the prescribed dose as its overdose may lead to severe side effects. Do not stop taking this medicine without consulting your doctor as it may worsen your condition.
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule may not be suitable for all people. Inform your doctor if you have bleeding problems, or severe liver or kidney problems. Also, inform your doctor about all your current medicines that you may be using before taking this medicine.
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is not recommended for use in children below 16 years of age due to lack of safety data. Consult your doctor before using this medicine if you are pregnant, planning a pregnancy, or are breastfeeding.

Uses of Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule
What is it prescribed for?
Hyperlipidaemia
Hyperlipidaemia refers to a high level of bad cholesterol and triglycerides (type of fats) in your blood. It may increase the risk of heart problems like atherosclerosis (a condition that occurs due to the buildup of fats, cholesterol, and other substances in the walls of your blood vessels). Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is used in the treatment of hyperlipidaemia associated with atherosclerosis. It further prevents the risk of heart attack and stroke (a condition that causes reduced oxygen supply to the brain).
When not to use?
Allergy
Avoid taking Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule if you are allergic to it. Seek immediate medical attention if you notice any symptoms such as skin rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), severe dizziness, breathing difficulty, etc.
Bleeding disorders
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is not recommended for use if you have active bleeding or haemorrhagic disorders such as haemophilia (a condition where your blood does not clot normally) or telangiectasia (a condition where small blood vessels located near the skin surface widen). This medicine prevents blood clot formation by permanently reducing platelet (cells that form clots) aggregation and thus increasing your bleeding time.
Active liver disease
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is broken down in your liver. Hence, this medicine is not recommended if you have pre-existing liver problems as it may lead to the accumulation of this medicine in your blood and increase the risk of severe side effects. It may also cause further liver damage.
Severe kidney disease
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is not recommended for use if you have severe kidney problems as a damaged kidney will not filter this medicine completely out of your body. It leads to the accumulation of this medicine and can cause serious side effects.
Peptic ulcer
Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule is not recommended for use if you have an active or a history of peptic ulcers (sores in the lining of your stomach and intestine due to excess acid production). This medicine can cause stomach and intestinal bleeding and worsen your health condition.

Unistar (5/75 mg) Capsule should be used with caution if you have kidney problems as it may worsen your health condition. A high dose of this medicine used for a prolonged time may increase the risk of kidney damage. Your doctor may suggest tests to regularly monitor your kidney function while you are taking this medicine.

This medicine may cause memory loss, forgetfulness, confusion, etc. However, these side effects are not serious and resolve after discontinuation of this medicine.
