Description

Topisal 6% Lotion is a topical medicine composed of Clobetasol and Salicylic acid. It is used to manage symptoms of psoriasis, which is a skin condition that causes red, itchy scaly patches, most commonly on the knees, elbows, trunk and scalp. This medicine works by reducing the production of chemical transmitters responsible for swelling and itching.

Topisal 6% Lotion can cause side effects like exfoliation of skin (removal of dead skin) and redness at the applied site. Most of these side effects are temporary and resolve on their own. Consult your doctor if these side effects are persistent or worsen.

Topisal 6% Lotion is for external use only. Apply this medicine as directed by your doctor. Try using this medicine at the same time every day to maintain a constant level of medicine in your body. Do not stop the application without consulting your doctor as your symptoms could reoccur.

Topisal 6% Lotion is not recommended if you are allergic to it and in children below the age of 12 years. Do not use this medicine for other skin conditions without consulting your doctor. Skin disorders
Topisal 6% Lotion may be used to treat skin disorders such as dermatoses; dermatitis; red, itchy rash on your scalp with scales (seborrhea); dandruff; corns and warts on the hands and feet; etc.
Psoriasis
Topisal 6% Lotion may be used in the treatment of psoriasis which is an autoimmune disorder characterized by itchy patches and red skin with silvery scales.
Ichthyosis
Topisal 6% Lotion may be used to treat ichthyosis, which is a rare genetic skin disorder characterized by scaly, dry, and thickened skin.

Allergy

Chronic application

Cushing’s syndrome
Topisal 6% Lotion may cause hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis suppression and Cushing’s syndrome if you are receiving high doses for a prolonged period. Use in Pediatrics
Topisal 6% Lotion is not recommended for use in children less than 12 years of age since the safety and efficacy data of use are not clinically established.
Infections

Dosage

Missed Dose
Apply the missed dose of Topisal 6% Lotion as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose. Do not apply a double dose to make up for the missed dose.
Overdose
An overdose of Topisal 6% Lotion is not likely to cause severe symptoms unless it is applied for a prolonged period in large volumes. However, ingestion of Topisal 6% Lotion may affect you and immediate medical intervention may be required.
